What causes a blood clot in heart. How long will it take for heparin to break up the blood clot?

Variable: Acute heart attack and surface clot quite quickly! atrial fibrillation/ mitral vale may develop more slowly. Heart failure and enlarged chambers. Heparin reduces progression, but natural clot lysis occurs over time naturally or with lyric agents.

Can a cardiac aneurysm cause a ddimer to be high? What type of test can determine if I have a blood clot in heart?

A blood clot in the: heart chambers initially should be tested with an Echocardiogram. Information needed: does patient have atrial fibriillation? On anticoagulation? What are the symptoms?

How do you know if you have a blood clot in your heart?

How do you know if you have a blood clot in your heart?

Ultrasound: An echocardiogram with see clot in the ventricles, and a special echocardiogram called transesophogeal echocardiogram will see clot in the smaller spaces of the upper chambers (atrial appendage), .

Can your heart stop from working to hard due to blood clot?

Yes, but not often: Your heart can stop working if that clot breaks off and travels to the main arteries that leave the heart and enters the longs. This clot will cause the right side of your heart to push against increased pressure. This increases stress can eventually lead to your heart stopping.

What are they symptoms of a blood clot in the heart? What test diagnosis this?

What are they symptoms of a blood clot in the heart? What test diagnosis this?

Why do you ask?: Often there's none until it's too late. There are clinical situations in which it's expected -- famously, damaged valves, atrial fibrillation, or a previous myocardial infarction. An ultrasound / echocardiogram is often the key. Your PVC's, headache and tachycardia are almost certainly not due to an intracardiac thrombus.

How can a blood clot cause a heart stroke?

How can a blood clot cause a heart stroke?

Heart stroke: A heart stroke is also known as a myocardial infarction or heart attack. A blood clot forms in a heart blood vessel. This cuts off flow to a part of the heart and that part dies. This can cause pain, rhythm and pumping disturbances. These things can result in disability or death.

Why do blood clots often lead to heart strokes?

Why do blood clots often lead to heart strokes?

By: Impairing the circulation of blood to the heart. Btw, usually the word "stroke" is used when it is brain and "infarction" is used for heart. In reality, they are the basically the same thing.

What causes a blood clot to form behind the heart?

What causes a blood clot to form behind the heart?

In the heart?: I'm assuming you mean "in the heart" as clots don't form behind the heart. The 2 most common causes are atrial fibrillation (clots form in the atria or upper chambers because of the abnormal rhythm) and early in the setting of a large anterior - apical heart attack (clots form in the ventricle or lower chambers).

I still have a few sypmtom from my blood clot but I feel a littlte better, but my heart beats real hard and fast from time to time is it part of sypmt?

I still have a few sypmtom from my blood clot but I feel a littlte better, but my heart beats real hard and fast from time to time is it part of sypmt?

Possibly: It may depend on where the clot is located and what symptoms remain. If the clot affects both iliac veins you may not have enough blood returning to your heart causing these symptoms until you are able to redistribute your blood volume. If you still have pain due to the clot, younger people can have an increased heart rate as part of their pain response. A compression stocking (20-30mmhg) helps.

How fast can you die from a blood clot in the arm, can it go right to your heart?

How fast can you die from a blood clot in the arm, can it go right to your heart?

Very rare: Surprisingly enough, blood clots in the arms do not tend to be associated with pulmonary emboli as often as those clots in the legs. If your clot is in a superficial vein, it will never move, and so it poses no danger. If you have a deep clot (DVT) you need to be seen by a vascular surgeon to determine your risk of embolism and whether you need to be on a blood thinner.

What is the survival chances of a 71 yo person who has a blood clot in his heart and has a serious back problem? He lose his appetite too.

Only your Dr can say: Too many unknowns to answer this question. What kind of clot? Where? How 'healthy' is the heart? Are there other medical problems. The doctor who knows your history and physical exam the best, has the best way to have an estimate for this answer. And remember this is only an estimate.

Will my blood clot put me at risk for a heart attack or a stroke?

Will my blood clot put me at risk for a heart attack or a stroke?

It depends: Heart attack develops from heart artery blockage. If blood clot develops in the coronary artery, yes heart attack results. On the other hand, if the blood clot is in the veins, there is no need to worry about "heart attack". Blood clot in the leg veins can travel to the heart and can block pulmonary arteries. This is pulmonary embolism, not "heart attack" as I understood the term.
