If a doppler scan of arms and legs comes back negative for blood clotting, does that mean there are no blood clots in my body anywhere else?

No, but...

Rapid_heart_beat
it's extremely unlikely. Unless you have other symptoms. It is possible the a small clot travelled to your lungs and would present as a pulmonary embolus. CT is the best test for that. However, a blood test called D-dimer would be positive. If your duplexes and d-dimer are negative, it would be extremely unlikely to have a clot anywhere in a patient your age.

Dr. Cary Rose answered:

Blood clot cause swollen right arm?

Absolutely!

Arm
This is common with central lines, pacemakers, or indwelling catheters, like Quinton dialysis catheters. It causes obstruction of the main veins of the arm (axillary, basillic, or subclavian) and can cause arm swelling. This is similar to a DVT in the leg.

Dr. Bradley Thomas answered:

What can cause a blood clot in the arm?

Many things.

Blood
Assuming you mean in the veins not the arteries. Blood clots in the arm arm divided into deep (more serious) and superficial. Deep vein thrombosis of the arm is most commonly seen in hospitalized patients that have certain kinds of long IV's in called PICC lines. In a young person I often treat clot in the subclavian/axillary veins from "Venous TOS". It can be caused by repetative motion injury.

How fast can you die from a blood clot in the arm, can it go right to your heart?

Very rare

Arm
Surprisingly enough, blood clots in the arms do not tend to be associated with pulmonary emboli as often as those clots in the legs. If your clot is in a superficial vein, it will never move, and so it poses no danger. If you have a deep clot (DVT) you need to be seen by a vascular surgeon to determine your risk of embolism and whether you need to be on a blood thinner
