Blocked Eustachian Tube Won T Unblock
Not easy: Eustachian tube blockage is usually reversible and is often caused by viral infections of the nose and back of nose. Nasal sprays and decongestants are rarely helpful. I would consult an ENT doctor for diagnosis and treatment. Sometimes, if you have had many ear infections in childhood, the ET blockage may be long lasting. ...Read more
Middle Ear: The eustachian tube is our drainage (& pressure equalizer) for our middle ear, obstructed by excessive mucous production (colds, allergy, smoke exposure), thick mucous due to infection or antihistamines, blowing your nose hard/refilling your ear with mucous, & lymphoid/adenoid tissue obstructing drainage. In children, the tube is narrow & horizontal & plugs more easily. ...Read more
What are the consequences of flying with a blocked Eustachian tube if the valsalva technique does not work?
Pain: Having mucous or infection in an ear tube may cause pain during pressure changes of ascending and descending. This could also potentially cause the infection to migrate to the ear drums which could pop. Best to get checked by your doctor to ensure the ear drums are healthy for the flight. How to open the eustachian tube? I believ mine is blocked because the pressure of my headphones are causing me to feel like im going to pass gas/explode, etc
Hi.: Hi. First off - please take off the head phones and keep them off until the pain has resolved. Trying pinching down both of your nostrils so that no air flows through them. Now, with you mouth closed and your nostrils pinched closed breath hard (like you were bearing down to have a bowel movement). This pressure might be enough to temporarily open the eustachian tube. However, if that doesn't work consider use of an over the counter oral decongestant - by reducing congestion/ swelling it may take pressure off the eustacian tube which may be pinched off. Consider use of a nasal spray like afrin. It is quite powerful but shouldn't be used more than twice a day for three to five days at the maximum. Maybe you could limit headphone use. Take care. ...Read more

My eustachian tube has been blocked for 3 years I just got the tube put in my left ear, but how is the fluid ever gonna drain if it's a hard paste?
PET: Greetings. Having had a Pressure Equalization Tube inserted into your ear will help restore the proper middle ear pressure. It will be that of the atmosphere since the tube in your ear drum will bypass your Eustachian Tube. Your surgeon would have suctioned the middle ear fluid prior to inserting the tube. Fluid recurrence will only occur if the tube become blocked. ...Read more
Will taking levitra (vardenafil) (10 mg) worsen a very painfully blocked eustachian tube? My doctor says it's caused by allergies and I am currently taking nasonex
Ear Pain and Levitra (vardenafil): Levitra (vardenafil) can cause nasal congestion. This in turn could contribute to eustachian tube blockage and ear pain. A study of over 7000 patients demonstrated increased nasal congestion in 3.4% of patients. My right ear feels blocked with ear wax if I use ear drops will it make Eustachian tube dysfunction worse in that ear? Or should I get it flushed?
What's in the ear?: The doctor will want to know what is in the ear. He has to look in the ear. Otherwise, he has to guess what's in the ear... unless another doctor just cleared out the canals. If so, it is presumed that nothing is in the ear canal. In a normal person, without a hole or a tube in the eardrum, ear drops will not go beyond the ear canal, so most drops will not directly affect the eustachian tube. ...Read more
