Is heart block the same as rate related left bundle branch block?

Is heart block the same as rate related left bundle branch block?

Not the same: Both are types of fatigue in the heart's wiring system. 1st degree heart block is when there is a delay in the signal getting from atria down to ventricles. That's minor. In more advanced heart block, some beats dont get through at all. In lbbb, there is no block between atria + ventricles but there is a delay in the signal spreading within the ventricles, which doesnt cause symptoms by itself. ...Read more

Will atherosclerosis of the femoral artery affect heart beat and ekg?

Will atherosclerosis of the femoral artery affect heart beat and ekg?

No: Ekgs measure the electrical activity of the heart. Palpitations ( irregular heartbeats) are also a function of the electrical activity in the heart. Neither of these will be affected by having atherosclerosis in the femoral artery of the leg. ...Read more

Which layer of heart is affected in heart attack ?

Which layer of heart is affected in heart attack ?

The Inner One: Blood vessels run from the outside of the heart to the inside, so the area that gets hit first is what we call "endocardium" - it's the layer of heart muscle on the inside of the heart chambers. That said, that's only where the damage starts. Depending on the severity of the heart attack, it can involve the entire thickness of the heart wall. ...Read more

Can cholesterol in the heart give a heart attack?

Can cholesterol in the heart give a heart attack?

It's a risk: If the arteries in the heart are injured and the protective lining is breached, then cholesterol can enter into the artery and cause a plaque build up . The plaque can rupture under the right conditions and this will cause a heart attack. What is a left fascicular block in your heart?

What is a left fascicular block in your heart?

Left fascicular bloc: The hearts conduction system has a right bundle and a left bundle. The left 'bundle' has both anterior and posterior fascicles. When one or the other fascicles has conduction block, we call this fascicular block. The left anterior is the most common. This explanation is a bit of an oversimplification to fascilitate understanding. ...Read more

Heart block from toprol (metoprolol)? What would EKG show for heart block?

Heart block from toprol (metoprolol)? What would EKG show for heart block?

Possible. : If you take enough toprol (metoprolol) you can get heart block. It would generally show up with a very slow rate ( bradycardia ) and a prolonged p-r interval ( 1st degree av block) but if severe could show up with just about any really slow rhythm. ...Read more

What is the connection between right bundle branch block with slow heart beat?

What is the connection between right bundle branch block with slow heart beat?

It depends: Right bundle branch block(rbbb) in itself is usually a benign disturbance of conduction system of the heart. It usually does associated with adverse effects. However, it may be a part of other serious conduction disorders of heart (like high degree av block). Therefore, it may not be the cause of but a part of findings in a slow heart rate. Also remember, slow heart rate is not always bad. ...Read more

Is pain in the carotid artery a sign of heart failure with frequent PVC's, faintness, fast heart rate and bloating?

Is pain in the carotid artery a sign of heart failure with frequent PVC's, faintness, fast heart rate and bloating?

Carotid artery: disease in itself has no symptoms; it causes symptoms when blood flow to the brain is decreased because of it. Perhaps you are having neck pain, near the location of the carotid artery, but I would not interpret that as a sign of heart failure or cause of PVC's. Certainly frequent PVC's might be a sign of more serious dysrhythmia causing faintness/fast heart rate. You need to continue cardiac care ...Read more

Can someone with a history of bundle branch block convert back to sinus rhythm?

Can someone with a history of bundle branch block convert back to sinus rhythm?

Not a rhythm problem: Bundle branch block is an anatomic or physiologic problem in conducting electrical impulses in part of the hearts conduction system. It is not a rhythm disturbance though it can be related to rhythm disturbances. Bundle branch blocks commonly exist with normal sinus rhythm. ...Read more
