Hi, I am nine weeks pregnant, and I am struggling with fatigue, nausea, bloating, and mild headaches, please advise on any over the counter medication that I can get, that is safe for the baby?

Good question: Any medication taken during pregnancy is a potential risk, but medications in category B have been shown to cause no risk to fetus in controlled studies. Acetaminophen and antacids like Mylanta or Tums are both in that category. Get lots of rest. Drink a lot of fluids as your blood volume is increasing, and eat frequent small portions ofbland foods like crackers. Congratulations ...Read more

Consider following: There is a symptom complex which seems to include headaches, orthostatic hypotension, postural tachycardia, and irritable bowel syndrome. You seem to have at least 2 of these elements. The bottom line is I believe your symptoms are tied to one another but the fix is more complicated than recognizing the problem. In addition, I am concerned that your report on Alcohol use could be contributory. ...Read more

Abnormal: Abnormal menstrual cycles can be caused by fluctuations in hormone levels, which can be caused by stress on the body, weight gain or loss, medications, or pregnancy. I am glad that you have taken pregnancy tests. If you are suspicious that you are pregnant you may need a blood pregnancy test. With new onset of irregular or missing periods (amenorrhea), then gynecological evaluation is indicated. ...Read more

Haven't been taking pills on time or everyday. Had unprotected sex but he pulled out. 6days later have nausea headaches no appetite bloating everyday?

Unlikely: It's unlikely that you're pregnant but I would take a test in a few days. It's ideal that you take the pills at the same time every day, but a few hours difference shouldn't increase risk for pregnancy all that much, unless you are on the Progesterone only mini-pill. You can get an app on your phone that will remind you at the same time every day! ...Read more

I was sterilised 15 years ago but am now 10 weeks late for my period and bloating, nausea headaches, could I be pregnant?

Need more info: Conception, as defined by the generation of a fertilized ovum, occurs within day or so of the sex. However, it takes about 3 weeks for the embryo to make enough HCG to produce a positive pregnancy test. Blood test may be done a day after a missed period. Home pregnancy tests should be done 4-5 days after the missed period. If the result is negative repeat the test in 4-5 days. Should I go to ER with overian cyst symptoms? My symptoms include: severe at times pain, severe bloating, nausea, headaches, constant thrist, and started bleeding small clots

This: This problem can probably be managed by your primary care provider. Your symptoms are non specific and may represent a few different issues. If you have a history of ovarian cysts or if your doctor feels you may be dealing with a yst after a complete history of the present problem and examination, then a pelvic ultrasound will be ordered. As far as the headaches and constant thirst, these could simply be a sign of dehydration, or something more serious like diabetes. The bottom line is to have a complete evaluation done by your doctor.
Best of luck. ...Read more

Hi, can a fibroid mimic pregnancy symptoms like nausea, bloating, slight cramping, headaches, food aversions, and backache and darkening areola?

Some symptoms: They can cause pain, urinary frequency and urgency if large enough as well as back pain. However, they don't exhibit the hormonal changes that cause darkening of the areola. Fibroid torsion or degeneration may cause nausea and vomitting, but is usually associated with severe pain too. Food aversion also not really related to fibroids. Headaches from anemia also common. ...Read more
