What is the best colon cleanser on the market? I have a severe bLoating, & constipation. I need something targeting a total cleanse. Thank you!

Be careful: As products marketed as colon clenses have no proven benefit and are nothing other than laxatives. I don't know what products you are looking at but there is no way to "cleanse " the colon to rid you of your issues. If anything you will have only temporary relief. Consider discussion with your doctor or referral to a GI doctor ...Read more

I have exessive bloating and pain in my left colon. I had scoliosis surgery 6 years ago. Since then I am having terrible pain in my colon.

Its unlikely that it: Is from the scoliosis surgery and been going on for last 6 years. I am sure you have had it checked by a gen surgeon as well as the spine surgeon.
Sometimes its helpful to be rechecked and reinvestigated to reach a diagnosis.
I don't think you have any other option. Maybe a colonoscopic exam might be helpful.
Good luck. ...Read more

How do internal factors affect external symptoms? Could imbalanced colon show as red nose? Bloating, irregular movements only colon symptoms-no pain

= A Dx of exclusion: When a GI problem is labelled "functional" it means inflammation, infection, & ischemic pathology, as well as motility disorders have been ruled out. Ruled in are conditions that alter how the gut "senses" pain, distension, & the movement of food or residue. I have had constipation. My stomach bloats almost everytime I eat. I have had good colonic irrigations. But bloating still persists.?

How long?: I don't know how long you have been having symptoms but certainly taking Clindamycin for your cellulitis could have this side effect. Even if it has been going on longer and you have dealt with the constipation, you could still have irritable bowel syndrome in which the muscles lining the large intestine do not contract and relax in a coordinated manner. Treatment is available; discuss with doc. ...Read more

I had a rough colonoscopy/EGD on thursday because of a tortuous colon. Still experiencing cramping bloating and no BM yet should I be concerned?

Maybe. Give GI a call: Gastroenterologists do describe "colonic redundancy" &/or "tortuosity" as a colonic anatomic variant that makes performing colonoscopy technically more challenging. In such cases, there may be considerable looping & coiling by the colon, that may not translate into colon dysfunction. Such variation can be seen in laxative users, when significant fibrosis/adhesions distort colon, some body types. ...Read more

10d constip w/last bm 4d ago. Mild pain & bloating but no urge. Gently pressed finger into rectum ~3-4 inches. Lower colon empty but finger came out w/maroon blood. No diagnosis but possib ibd. Obstruction?

Retained feces: If there was an actual bowel obstruction it would likely cause extreme pain. However with this length of constipation you may have retained feces at a higher level then your finger's reach. Don't know if the blood on your finger was related to trauma in introducing the finger. Other causes of rectal bleeding include hemorrhoids, fissure, fistula, cancer, or bowel infection/ inflammation. >>. ...Read more

I had a colonoscopy Cuz of nausea, bloating, cramping, diarreah. Small polyp found, awaiting biopsie. What r all the diff colon diseases?

Too big a topic: Can't answer "all the colon diseases" in this small field. The large categories are infectious, malignant, inflammatory, drug-induced, and inherited. The biopsy result of your polyp will tell you what kind it is and therefore what category it falls into. Someone your age usually has benign (non-cancerous) polyps that are found incidentally while a colonoscopy is being done for other symptoms. ...Read more

I have had abdominal surgery and feel the scar tissue is wrapped around my colon, & can't eat due to pain and bloating. What should I do?

Had ovary removed 10 years ago. Could scar tissue that attached to colon sometime after this procedure cause constipation, bloating and pelvic pain.

Common symptoms: The constellation of symptoms you describe can be seen commonly in women with IBS, Diverticular disease, scar tissue, and other benign causes. Still these symptoms are best evaluated by a Gyn doctor to make sure they aren't signs of something more worrisome, like colon or ovarian carcinoma. Saying it is due to scar tissue is usually a diagnosis made after others are excluded. ...Read more
