See ur hepatologist: Hi, to distinguish between fluid retention ; antibiotic as a cause of ur abdo swelling you will need a physical exam by the doc who is familiar with you. Antibiotics can change the gut flora and cause bloating but so can fluid retention. I usually encourage my cirrhotics 2 keep a daily weight diary. If u feel bloated but no increase in weight then it's gaseous. Hope this helps. ...Read more

R/O IBS: IBS = irritable bowel syndrome is a diagnosis of exclusion. SX can be managed You need a full exam and blood work. Especially screen for H pylori . Also stool screen x 3 for occult blood /parasite/hpylori . you also need a baseline EGD/COLO. While you are getting these items checked out you should stick to a gluten free high fiber diet . Possible infection: I am not sure what you mean by "bad" bm's but it sounds likely that you have some type of infection, possibly any number of bacteria or parasites &/or yeast overgrowth. Stool cultures & parasite tests may show the cause, so it's best to see a doc, but you could try probiotics, broad-spectrum anti-microbial herbs like garlic & ground papaya seeds (2 tbsp once a week x 3 wks), then see doc if needed. ...Read more
