Very well: Could be a cold sore, classically caused by the herpes virus. Be careful as this may be contagious, it is truly from a herpes virus; avoid kissing anyone until the lesion is healed. You can consider trying an over the counter remedy like Abreva (which is applied to the lesion 5X/day). But you may review this with your doctor, as for the right person, prescription antivirals can be used too. ...Read more

My son keeps getting blister type sores on his inner bottom lip and sometimes his tongue. It seems to happen every 1 or 2 months. What could this be?
Aphthous ulcers: The cause of which is largely unexplained. They occur in a large percentage of the population and there is thought to be a genetic relationship. With onset in children they generally resolve. Treat any pain and modify the diet as necessary. You might try a children's vitamin to see if it helps, although there is not felt to be an association with diet. All the best and follow up with his doctor. ...Read more
I woke up with 3 blisters on my lip that have more than 1 bump per blister on the bottom of my lip and the top what could that be?
Could be a cold sore: The rash could be a cold sore/fever blister, which is due to a herpes virus. If it is tingly and painful then that is a probability. You could also have a reaction to something that touched your skin there. Contact dermatitis can cause a rash and is due to an allergic reaction to something. Lastly, it could be a bacterial infection. If it does not seem to be resolving then have someone examine it. ...Read more

My bottom lip has gotten swollen and gotten blisters from my girlfriend biting my bottom lip too hard. Is it something I should be worried about?
Yes: Repeated damage to a bottom lip will cause changes in the lip and lead to a distorted appearance. If just one episode, the lip most likely will return to normal over time. If said girlfriend continues to bite, one might consider offering her a more durable part of the body to bite on... but it's hard to find a location that can withstand repeated biting. ...Read more
I have a blister like bump on my lip (at the bottom, on the outside) it came up without an itch and its just one blister unlike when I have coldsores?
Probably a cold sore: Oral herpes outbreaks (cold sores) can vary quite a bit. If same location as previous outbreaks, and if the individual "blister like bump" otherwise looks similar, then probably it's another herpes outbreak. Outbreaks can be treated, with much more rapid healing, with a single dose of valacyclovir. It must be taken within a day. Ask your doc for a prescription to have it on hand for next outbreak. ...Read more

What are water blisters & why am I getting them? They started just on my bottom lip but had one on my top lip yesterday which was quite big. Is popping them like I do the right way of dealing with them?
Viral infection: The collection of symptoms you describe point very clearly to a viral infection as the most likely cause. If they are multiple small blisters than come and go rather than one area on the outer lip which lasts a long time, then it is unlikely to be the herpes virus (cold sore virus). The good news is that these will run their course by themselves and don't require any specific treatment. ...Read more
Tough to say: Diagnosing "spots" is best done by a good history and physical examination. Factors such as age of pt, size of the spot, duration of the spot, precipitating events, possible allergens that may have caused the spot, etc. Are all things that go into a proper diagnosis. I would see your dr. Or a dermatologist (skin specialist) to get a definative diagnosis. Good luck. ...Read more
