Not oral herpes: Oral herpes is painful and also would not resolve in such a short period of time. Sometimes the small salivary glands i the lips can look like small red spots. If it resolves on its own within the next 24-48 hour then i wouldn't worry about it. ...Read more

Tough to say: Diagnosing "spots" is best done by a good history and physical examination. Factors such as age of pt, size of the spot, duration of the spot, precipitating events, possible allergens that may have caused the spot, etc. Are all things that go into a proper diagnosis. Not unusual: Fever blisters usually recur in the same general area as the first infection, and relapses are often triggered by mild irritation to the lip from friction or biting or associated with systemic infection. There has been an association between Bells Palsy and herpes, but there are other causes as well of palsy, and your current flare should not be cause for alarm. ...Read more

I have one bump on my upper lip! It has been there for 3 to 4 days! It came to a head and I popped it!! Now it is a flat hard spot! It does itch so I assumed it was a cold sore but it's not a blister or a cluster just one bump??

Sounds like you: may have a MUCOCOELE a small mucous containing cyst which originates on the line joining your lip tissue and your skin! It should slowly resolve but if persists ask your Dentist for a referral to an oral/plastic surgeon for excision! Hope this helps! Dr Z ...Read more
