Throat hurts to swallow for past 6 days. Swollen neck in front on right side. White blisters on tonsils found last night. What could this be?
With the information: You have given it is likely an infectious process, and would best be actually looked at by a doctor. The significant infectious processes at your age include streptococcus and mononucleosis. Viral ulcerative pharyngitis is also significant and painful enough to be symptomatically treated. Have your doctor take a look. Read more
Past 4days red sore throat w 1 blister on tonsil. Red spots on roof of mouth. Yesterday started runny nose, mild phlegm, nausea, & mild cramps. No fever.
Pharyngitis: First you need a pregnancy test if any possibility then a full history and exam. Sounds like the common cold with a possible bacterial infection superimposed on your throat. Viruses cause most of pharyngitis and can cause a vesicular appearance but if the blister on tonsil has yellow discharge more likely to be strep with fever tenderness and absence of cough. I have one blister on my tonsil. It's clear and a little puffy. It doesn't hurt though and I feel perfectly normal what could this be?
Tonsil blister: Hello. It is hard to determine why your tonsil is irregular without examining you. It may represent a crevice or crater on the surface of your tonsil that could be totally normal. Another possibility could be a benign mucus cyst which also could be normal. See your ENT for confirmation. Good luck. Read more

I have a blister on my tonsils for a month now. Was just diagnosed w/ strept throat. Is this a symptom of strept?
Could be.: If it goes away with the treatment for strep, then you have your answer. If it does not, get another culture to see if strep is still present, although it may be if you are a carrier. In either case, if the antibiotics don't help, see an ENT doc, any new lesion still present after a 4-6 weeks needs to be evaluated. Read more

I have tonsillar hypertrophy. For the past 24hr I've had an sore throat, no appetite & a what looks to be a blood blister on my tonsil. What is this??
Tonsil lesion: It could be a small blood blister, could be a dilated blood vessel on the tonsil, called a varicocele, which is a normal variant. Sometimes you notice things that have been there because your attention is drawn there, in your case due to sore throat. Doesn't sound concerning to me, but you should see an ENT doctor to check it out. Read more
Son 2 yr old says mouth hurts and woke screaming. Has white maybe blisters back throat tonsils. 103 104 fever. Doc said mayb hfmouth, strepor whatelse?
Viral vs bacterial: This could be many things. Strep throat causes fever headache and sore throat often with what is called exudate. Mono can have similar symptoms as well. Viral illnesses usually cause blisters that are whitish centrally with surrounding erythema, ie redness. Very important to make sure your child is able to drink well and swallow, if not your child should be seen asap. Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Sore throat, red blisters, and swollen tonsils for 3 weeks. On 4th day of amoxicillin but there's been no improvement. What do I do now?
Virus? Mono?: Most sore throats and tonsillitis are caused by viruses -- and no virus is cured with any antibiotic. Your doctor probably was concerned about strep throat, but that should have started to improve by now. At age 20, a good bet for such prolonged viral pharyngitis is infectious mononucleosis. Ask your doctor if s/he checked for mono or if you should be tested for it now. Read more
I have 3 dark purple spots that look like blood blisters on my lingual tonsils, should I worry this is cancer? Have had a sore throat for 3 weeks.
No: The tonsils are subject to a great deal of inflammation under certaincirdcumstances. Where there are the occassional cases of malignancy developing it is either from squamous malignancy or lymphoma. Neither present as hemmorhagic areas. The latter can occur when there is some bleeding into the tonsil because of proximity to the underlying intermal caroltid artery. Warm gargles should help. Read more
