Unsure without exam: Those growths have to be seen to be categorized by the MD preferably a GYN MD. Otherwise, it would be speculation to diagnosis the problem from this vantage point. ...Read more

When I got my first period the pad I used rubbed me so raw my labia minora blistered and the skin is now stretched. What should I do now for the area?

External yeast: The moisture on your pad may have caused an external yeast infection. You can try over the counter yeast medication. If it is too raw, however, try to keep it clean and dry for a couple of days. No powder, as it may clog the pores and make things worse. If it gets reel bad, you mspy need to see your GYN. ...Read more

I'm not sexually active and am on my 3rd day of my period. And my labia minora is all swollen and very painful. What could it be caused by?

Let me explain: The causes are variable depending on the specific presentation. Localized swelling could be due to cysts, abscesses, or hernia. Generalized swelling is more likely due to infectious, edematous, or allergic causes.
If the cause is an allergic reaction or chemical irritation, then it's best to avoid that substance. Treatment for infectious conditions is a specific antimicrobial agent ...Read more

Dry spell a 1/2 days after period (3 days late, not preg.). Now accompanied with an itchy labia minora and an itchy clitoral hood. What could this be?

Several things: Yeast infections are the most common cause of vaginal itching. Yeast medications are available over the counter. Trichomoniasis and herpes are two stds which can cause itching and pain in the vagina. Schedule a visit to help narrow down the problem if you do not improve with over the counter yeast cream ...Read more

Swollen labia minora and clitoris region. Was itching; soothed with ointment. Semi-tender but not enough to qualify as pain. Period started today.

One side of my labia minora has been quite swollen, and very painful. Sexual activity isn't the reason for the swelling. I'm not on my period. Help?

Ah oh?: I agree sexual activity should not give you such pain and swelling! There is something definitely abnormal here. If you do not have fever, I think we can wait till tomorrow to have an exam for you. Call your gyn's office tomorrow and get a careful exam. THIS may be an infection of some sort. It is possible it will require incision and drainage, so don't delay. Thanks 4 trusting Healthtap! ...Read more

If semen touched my labia minora 14 days after the start of my period, can I get pregnant? Even if I tried washing it with soap and feminine wash?

If semen touched my labia minora 14 days after the start of my period, can I get pregnant? Even if I tried washing it with soap and feminine wash?

No, not unless...: Semen can't make you pregnant just by touching your labia minora. The sperm have to enter within the vagina, swim through the cervix into the uterus & up the fallopian tubes to fertilize the egg. It's unlikely semen that touched the labia minora will make it that far; generally the sperm must be deposited beyond the labia minora. But this is risky behavior & if any made it past then its possible. ...Read more

Day3 period, vagina very itchy, labia minora nd area around clitoris & lips is very red very and itchy. Been like that 4 days. Used daktacort nthg hapned?

Likely yeast: Red and itchy is almost always yeast. But it could also be an allergic reaction, or something else. Daktacort contains both an anti-yeast and a steroid, so in theory it should address the two main issues. Unfortunately, there is a lot of "resistant" yeast in the world, which the Daktacort may not kill. I would recommend seeing a GYN for an exam, to rule out other problems. ...Read more

What do you suggest if my labia minora is swollen sudeen after my periods. Please help me?

What do you suggest if my labia minora is swollen sudeen after my periods. Please help me?

Possible infection: Menstrual blood has a pH of 7.4 and the vagina tries to maintain a pH of 4.0. A higher pH can allow bacterial overgrowth, especially if periods are heavy. If overgrowth is significant, bacterial vaginosis may result and the increased pH could inflame the labia minora. Sexual intercourse during menstrual periods could contribute as well. ...Read more

1 lesion on each side of inner labia minora after every time I have sex. Always in the same spot. Not bumpy or blister-like, more like a cut. What is this?

Examination: Without seeing the area we can not be certain. Herpes and yeast should be ruled out first. Underlying skin disorders like lichen sclerosis are possible. Frictional injuries from intercourse are another. Vaginal lubricant should help if this is the issue. Show the area in question to your obgyn for a more definitive evaluation ...Read more

How long does it take a herpes blisters to rupture? Can a vaginal bump/pimple in my labia Minora have a shallow opening?

How long does it take a herpes blisters to rupture? Can a vaginal bump/pimple in my labia Minora have a shallow opening?

Probably not herpes: On moist surfaces like the labia minor, herpes lesions typically break within a few hours; often the blister itself is never seen, just an open sore. On dry surfaces, like the labia major, the blisters may remain intact for a few days. From this information it isn't possible to know whether your bump/pimples is herpes. But a single lesion in a hair-bearing area usually is just a pimple. ...Read more

I believe I have a bad yeast infection, but there are blisters/sores on the inside of my Labia Minora. I can't have herpes. What else could it be?

Sounds like herpes: Yeast may be possible, but herpes is the most common cause of such symptoms. Why do you think you can't have it? Even if monogamous with a faithful partner, herpes is the best bet. Many cases of herpes show up in that situation; your partner could have it, without symptoms. Most important that you see a doctor ASAP, the earlier the better accurate diagnosis and effective treatment. Good luck! ...Read more

Itchy pubic area directly above clitoris. Clitoral hood has a weird blister or raw lesion. Rawness between labia minora and majora. No STDs or stis?

You need an exam: Your symptoms are suggestive of a herpes simplex infection (sexually transmitted), but yeast (not sexually transmitted) may cause similar symptoms of rawness and itching. If you also have a white, cottage cheese-like discharge, it is more likely to be yeast. The bottom line is that you need to have an exam done by a health professional. And no sex until you find out! ...Read more

Have a sore on my labia minora looks kind of like a blood blister. Hurts when touched. How long should I monitor before I see a doctor? Possible dx?

You need an exam: It is important with these symptoms that you schedule a visit for testing. This sounds like you may be having a herpes outbreak. It can cause blisters or areas that feel like cuts surrounded by itching or burning. Certainly other things are possible like an infected hair follicle, a small abrasion and others. Don't wait. Schedule a visit. ...Read more
