Could i be in a lot of pain if i had a bone infection after tooth extraction?

Post op pain: It could be a dry socket or you may just be dealing with some aggressive post operative pain associated with the difficult extraction. Difficult teeth tend to require the removal of bone and require more healing time than erupted teeth. If its been over a week and there's still pain or more pain, contact your dental surgeon. ...Read more

See a dentist ASAP: any other treatment is a temporary relief. A tooth infection won't go away without treatment. If the abscess doesn't drain, the infection may spread to cheeks, sinus and to other areas of your head fast. See your dentist ASAP. ...Read more

Not normally: An infection usually tries to get out by way of the path with least resistance. Expansion in the area is definitely possible but movement more rare that it would spread. Could an impacted infected wisdom tooth cause a bone infection of the skull?

Could an impacted infected wisdom tooth cause a bone infection of the skull?

It depends.: Simply being impacted may lead to pain but won't necessarily lead to infection, but if debris chronically accumulates around the gum near the tooth' it can then become infected. If this happens, or it becomes infected for other reasons, then infection can spread to the adjacent bone of the skull. It then becomes know as osteomyelitis. ...Read more

Inconsistent pain in left side collar bone, could it come from a tooth ache or infection? Doesn't hurt so much but bothersome.

Inconsistent pain in left side collar bone, could it come from a tooth ache or infection? Doesn't hurt so much but bothersome.

Any TMJ symptoms?: I agree with dr. Greenhalgh. If you are having periodic pain in your facial muscles, neck, shoulders, frequent headaches, stuffiness in ears and/or pain in the jaw joint, i would consider finding a dentist who treats jaw joint problems. Most md's don't know very much about TMJ dysfunction or treat it. ...Read more

Hello - i had a wisdom tooth extraction 3 days ago upper left 7 i think. I can feel bone in the socket. No pain, but i'm worried about infection. ?

Pain or high temp?: Pain, elevated temp, or purulent discharge are more hallmarks of infection. It is very normal to feel the bone on the edge of the socket after an extraction but you should resist the urge to play with the socket with your tongue or finger initially. Rinsing with warm salt water should be started after waiting for 24 hours so that the blood clot is in place long enough for healing to begin. ...Read more

I had a tooth pulled yesterday due to a deep infection. Today, my gum line is stiff and my jaw bone is sore. Should I worry about an access?

No worry: Tooth extraction is a surgical procedure and is not completely risk-free. Pain, swelling and infection following surgery is usually at its worst 24 – 48 hours after surgery. After that it should subside more and more every day and after 7 days stop. Your symptoms could be a serous problem. See your dentist or an oral surgeon for post-op appointment. ...Read more

Had tooth extraction/bone graft 3 months ago.have had bitter taste in mouth since.Dr says area is healed/no infection. Why still having bitter taste?

Could be other cause: The bitter taste could be related to other causes such as sinus issues and related post nasal drip or stuff on the tongue.
