Can you explain if it's true that retroverted uterus has to do with misdiagnosed blighted ovum?

It does not: Retroverted uterus just refers to the position of the uterus in the pelvis - it is tilted backwards instead of tilted forwards. It is normal. Blighted ovum has nothing to do with the position of the uterus in the pelvis. ...Read more

I'm 9weeks pregnant, doc said my uterus sizeis about 10weeks, does the uterus usually grow if i'm having blighted ovum or if the baby is not growing?

I'm 9weeks pregnant, doc said my uterus sizeis about 10weeks, does the uterus usually grow if i'm having blighted ovum or if the baby is not growing?

Tomato Tamahto: 9 weeks, 10 weeks. Yes, the dates are important, but to a certain extent this is an exact science, and to another extent this is an inexact science. If you have an ultrasound measured in millimeters that indicates a certain number of weeks, fine. There are ranges that are acceptable and normal. I would not quibble about 1 week - i would worry if you were a month off! measure again in a month. ...Read more

My wife is 28.she had 2 miscarriage, one is aborted automatically and other is a blighted ovum D&C at 13 wk. her uterus shifted right.can she conceive?

Possibly: The fact that she has already conceived twice means that she can conceive. Any number of reasons can be causing the miscarriages. One of the things that can be done is genetic analysis among other things to determine potential cause of the miscarriages. Good health. ...Read more

Am 10 weeks pregnant, saw gestation+yolk sac on us when iwas 5weeks , my uterus size is 10 weeks, do I still have the chance to have a blighted ovum?

Yes: A blighted ovum means a pregnancy with a sac but no fetus. Regardless of the size of your uterus, at 10 weeks you should see a fetus (with a heart beat) on ultrasound or hear a heartbeat on doppler. If not, you may have a blighted ovum. ...Read more

U need advice?: This sounds like a complex problem, and it certainly has distressed you. I would try to arrange a visit on HealthTap prime as there is not enough space in these postings to get enough info to make a diagnosis. Also, there will probably be some back & forth that is necessary. Alternatively, seek a 2nd opinion from another Obstetrician / Gynecologist in ur area with the test results in hand. I am 9 weeks pregnant, my ultrasound reveals retroverted uterus, no embryonic development.. My doctor said it's blighted ovum. Is it 100% accurate ?

Likely correct: If the ultrasound was performed with the endovaginal probe, a viable pregnancy would easily be confirmed. The absence of embryonic development is either from blighted ovum or ectopic (tubal) pregnancy. ...Read more

I recently had a d&c for a blighted ovum at 7.5 weeks. Is it safe to try again after my first period? How long for the uterine lining to rebuild?

1 month: Usually i like patients to wait for their first period then 1 more month. There is no reason to wait longer. But conceiving earlier may increase the chance of miscarriage again. ...Read more

Concerning: If you are truly 6 weeks 5 days, one would expect to see a heartbeat. However, sometimes pregnancies implant later than expected so it is worthwhile check in one more time just to be sure even though the odds are not good. ...Read more

Numbers are good: but nothing is specific enough to guarantee it couldn't still be a blighted ovum. I run a specialty practice where we can US patients when the hCG is above 2000, so we routinely do 6 week ultrasounds. If you do not have access to US until 10 weeks that's not a cause for concern, but I'm afraid you'll just have to wait until then. Good luck and good wishes. ...Read more

I had a u/s yest, it says i'm in 6 weeks 2/3 days but doesn't show fetus. Doctor says it is blighted ovum, told me to see radiologist. What r my chances

Not sure: Did the doctor say you had a sac, but no fetal pole? You may want to consider having a blood HCG test now and in 48 hours to confirm that it is a blighted ovum. If your doctor performed an ultrasound, i'm not sure why he/she would send you to radiologist. Best would be to test your hormone and see if it's rising or falling. You need more information at this point. ...Read more
