Yes: Yes you can. But I would recommend waiting a month to try, . That allows turnover of the uterus so you are not at a higher risk of miscarriage due to the uterus not being ready.

Ovum (Definition)

Ovum is one proper name for the female gamete, also called oocyte, and (most commonly) 'egg.' ova (plural) exist in the ovaries of females, and are released in the reproductive years during ovulation. Most ova are lost not through ovulation, but some believe through ...Read more

Blighted+ovum+hcg+levels I am 9 weeks 4 days they did an ultrasound yesterday and all it showed was a sac no fetal pole nothing my level was 35000?

Blighted ovum: Unfortunately what you are describing is consistent with a blighted ovum. This is where an embryo implants into the uterine lining but the embryo or baby part doesn't grow where as the placenta part does. The gestational sac grows continuously without the baby. This event can continue growing for weeks. At times the patient will elect to undergo a dilation and curettage ending this abnormal pregnancy. If one elect to allow nature to take it's course then this will occur over weeks to possibly a month or so.

Diagnosed with blighted ovum. Blood hCG =271. Could I have ovulated that day? Or would it take at least 14 days for another ovulation?

HCG levels: HCG is produced from a pregnancy, and "271" is very low. Ovulation does not cause HCG production. If you had a "blighted ovum" and the HCG is still measurable, there is still viable tissue inside your womb. You may need a minor surgery procedure to clear this from your womb (uterus). Once the HCg is zero, ovulation may occur about 2-3 weeks later or more.

My hCG level went from 386 wk 4 to 5356 in wk 5. What are the chances of a blighted ovum? Will ur hCG levels rise tht much in 1 wk if u hv an empty?

What did uer OB say?: What is your Progesterone level, a high one is good a low one is not good, should be able to see a sac at 5 weeks and should be able to see a ht beat sometimes at 6 weeks depending on the person and theus machine but definitely by 6 1/2 - 7 weeks.

US at 5w5d gest sac meaures 5w1d but yolk sac is seen. My OB is dx with blighted ovum due to HCG being over 7000, stating a fetal pole should have been seen. Is this accurate?

Rely on ultrasound: It is true that an HCG of 7000 means that you should see a fetal pole. But the HCG is a less important tool now. It is very important early on to differentiate an ectopic. Your ultrasound shows that the pregnancy is in the uterus and not an ectopic. It's ok to wait and repeat the ultrasound. There is no harm in waiting one week and looking again.

Has anyone had a high hCG and then found out they had a blighted ovum?

Has anyone had a high hCG and then found out they had a blighted ovum?

Possible: Blighted ovum is still a pregnancy and HCG is produced resulting in positive pregnancy test. The actual level of HCG is not helpful in making a diagnosis of blighted ovum.

Do you think that an hCG level on apr 14 of 958 and then one on apr 23 of 14885 indicates a blighted ovum. The ges sac is present at 5weeks 5days.

US is more accurate: There is a wide range of "normal" beta-hcg levels. It is difficult to draw meaningful conclusions based on the 2 numbers you provided. If dates are correct, a transvaginal ultrasound should show a yolk sac and fetal pole by 5 weeks 5 days. It could be the dates are off a bit in which case it may just be too early. A follow-up ultrasound can determine if this is a viable pregnancy.

Do hCG levels rise with a blighted ovum?

Sometimes: Usually they do rise up to a certain point. Sometimes they rise even after the abnormality of found. And other times the hormones plateau or start to decrease a bit. Can vary.

5 weeks after m/c blighted ovum medically induced still bleeding scan shows no tissue hCG is zero. Period?

Birth control: Since the miscarriage is over see an Obgyn to discuss birth control to stop the bleeding and provide cycle regulation. A brief course of norethindrone acetate (progesterone) would likely also fix things.

My Hcg levels have more than doubled, 9/11 hcg was 17 9/15 HCG was 120 and 9/17 HCG was 287. progesterone 9/11 was 29. Could this be a blighted ovum?

Too early: Your levels are rising normally so at this time everything looks ok. A blighted ovum can not be diagnosed at this time as it is too early. Everything is rising at normal levels so there is no reason to suspect it at this time

Will my hCG levels continue to double with a blighted ovum? Mine are more than doubling ges sac measuring 5w5d however I'm 5w2d. Hcg 4967 no yolk sac

Generally not: If your HCG is doubling and the sac is approx. Consistent with your dates, chances are that you do not have a blighted ovum - could be a normal pregnancy. Keep checking sonos and hcg's - may need intervention if signs of fetal activity / growth are not evident. Good luck.

Had 2 healthy pregnancies. Now had a blighted ovum in Feb and am currently pregnant but have low HCG and been put on progesterone. What's going on?

Unclear: Not sure what you mean by having a 'low' HCG. Typically you are doubling appropriately or you are not. The progesterone is usually supplemented if it has been shown to be low for the gestational age. You have two term, uncomplicated pregnancies. The blighted ovum is a fluke occurrence that cannot be corrected for. Not sure what is going on. Talk to your doctor
