Tha'r She Blows!!!!!: This is very common: blowing air back into your ear when blowing your nose but the overall congestion won't allow it to escape. Then after a while some fluid can collect, and then if that hangs out long enough it can become infected. If the fluid or air can be removed with decongestants you'll feel better. And be careful blowing the nose: gently, one nostril at a time. chewing gum may help too. ...Read more

Polyp or mucus: Probabky not a poly as they are not things you can blow out- it is more likely to be a mass of mucus that is in the form of the nasal cavity, or a blood clot, or a mass of fungus (from a fungal infection). Possible cartilage: It would be impossible to tell what it could be with out knowing what happened during the rhinoplasty. If cartilage grafts were used or septal cartilage manipulations were performed then it is possible that a fragment of cartilage came out. Thick mucous: It is unlikely that you could blow polyps out of your nose. They are often removed surgically. I was not able to access your photo, but it sounds like formed or thick mucous. Unlikely to be harmful. See your regular doctor or an ENT, otolaryngologist, for complete evaluation if this problem continues. ...Read more

You are increasing: the pressure in your entire head when you blow your nose hard or sneeze. They liken a sneeze to be like air moving at pre-hurricane speeds of 100 mph. When you blow your nose, it's closer to 40 mph but not enough to blow your eyes out of their sockets. Otherwise, we'd have a lot more patients in the eye clinic. Broken nose: Put an ice pack on it while protecting your skin with a washcloth or towel 15 minutes on 1/2-1 hour off to decrease pain and swelling. Stay away from contact sports and other activities that could lead to reinjury. May want to consult ENT, especially if the injury has affected breathing passages significantly.
