Yes: In acute tonsillitis, bleeding is more common with streptococcal ("strep") infection. Antibiotics are the standard treatment. In chronic tonsillitis, bleeding is again more common with strep infections, but more importantly is an indicator that it's probably time to have a tonsillectomy.
Tonsils bleeding, white spots on throat, salivating a lot, it hurts like nothing else to swallow but should I? Or should I spit it out?
Possible infection: If the tonsils are bleeding with white discharge then you have an infection. See your primary care doctor for treatment.
Acute tonsillitis: Tonsils are like sponges in the back of the throat. Just like sponges they have pockets where things can accumulate. Sometimes this is bacteria. The bleeding is caused by little infections pushing out debris like abscesses rupturing. It is important to check to see if it is a strep infection as this can effect your skin, heart and kidneys.See 1 more doctor answer

Tonsils were bleeding while trying to remove deep tonsil stones. The most they've ever bled. Getting a tonsillectomy in 2 mo. Should I be worried?
Tonsil stone: No reason to worry. The tonsil tissue was traumatized with the extraction of the tonsillith. Consume cool-cold beverages and gargle with cold water to slow down bleeding. Spit it out, try not to swallow the blood to avoid vomiting. Keep physical activity and BP low. If blleding is significant you may need cautery. Tonsillectomy will be the definitive tx for recurrent stones.See 1 more doctor answer
Tonsil sore: My left tonsil is inflamed, bleeding and really saw due to a hole in it. What should I do? ANS: have your Dr look in there as see what is going on.
Puncture my tonsil with the pointy sharp plauqe cleaner as I was cleaning should I be worried? Its a very small puncture very minimal bleeding.
Puncture: Puncture will likely heal on its own without complication. If bleeding continues or pain worsens, see MD.
Tonsil stones: Hello, it depends on how you are dislodging the tonsilliths. I recommend a forceful gargle after every meal. This should be the most atraumatic way to remove these stones. If you manipulate the tonsil tissue with a tool of some type, then bleeding commonly occurs. Be careful because scar tissue could occur that will lead to a serious infection, maybe even an abscess. Good luck.See 1 more doctor answer
Worry won't help...: Nor will it change the outcome. If you damaged your tonsil trying to treat yourself, you could likely end up with an acute infection: tonsillitis. At the very least, you could have pain, swelling and difficulty swallowing. Too dangerous to try to remove stones that don't loosen with gargle. See your dentist. S/he will treat you or refer you to oral sturgeon or ent.See 1 more doctor answer
I had my tonsil removed and today is recovery 9 and ive been bleeding heavy to the point where I was coughing up some gooey stuff help plz!?
Removing tonsil stone with q tip. Bleeding started. Cause for concern? Looks like it stopped now. No pain.
Not to be concerned.: As long as the bleeding stopped it should heal just fine. The surface of the tonsil, although reasonably durable, can certainly sustain a wound with subsequent bleeding. It's nearly always self-limiting. If you get frequent Tonsiliths (stones) you might consider a tonsillectomy.See 1 more doctor answer
How long after tonsillectomy can you resume exercise? Had tonsils out two weeks ago. On day 6 had hemorrhaging bleeding. How long should I wait?
Hello my five yr old daughter just had tonsils removed Friday and its day 7 she's been a trooper and not hardly complained all of a sudden last night and this morning she is saying it hurts bad cant see no bleeding and she said it hurts when she swallows?
Probably OK: Bleeding from the nose after tonsillectomy is probably not related to the surgery (guessing adenoidectomy was not performed). If there is no further bleeding, would not seek treatment. If the bleeding recurs, consider asking your ENT how to further manage the issue.
