Bleeding nine days after a D & C after removal of placental fragments. Also still crampy. Is this normal??? 5 weeks postpartum.

Your OB can determine if you are a candidate for vaginal birth after c-section and if you are your delivery will be very closely monitored and preparation for c-section will be in place in case you need it. Bleeding after abort: Bleeding from the rectal area after an abortion can be worrisome. A trauma during surgery could be a possibility although rare. Please have your physcian examine you to make sure the bleeding its really from the rectal area instead of vaginally. Could be problem: Any pain, fevers....if so need to see your OB asap. If not...can have some discharge for several weeks after c sectionl. Continue to observe and if any pain, fevers, increasing foulness of discharge, see your OB. ...Read more
please ask your OB: This is one of the most basic questions that your OB should have already told you before you were discharged from the hospital, usually after your OB does your 6 week post partum check then if that is normal it will be ok to resume, but your doc may give u the ok sooner or later so please call your OB and ask your OB before you have intercourse. ...Read more
Have been bleeding after sex (though not every time) since had c section 14 weeks ago. Could the bleeding be linked to c section?
Probably not but...: It is relatively rare that "bleeding after sex since a Cesarian...be linked to the c section" unless the incision in your lower uterine segment/upper cervix failed to heal properly or completely. If you have a normal speculum exam, Pap test and Gyn exam, the possibility of a "Cesarian scar defect" may need to be ruled out or ruled in by a careful sonographic evaluation by a certified sonographer. ...Read more

You may have : Stretched your healing incision, esp internal stitches while very sore, probably not serious & should improve. Try to take it easy, especially lifting for a week or so (as much as you can). Brace the area w pillow if you need to cough or sneeze. Consider wearing a girdle or spanx to add some support.
