Other insect species, like bees, yellow jackets, wasps, hornets and fire ants actually inject venom into their prey and can not only cause localized pain and swelling, but severe, acute allergic reactions in ...Read more
Could it be an allergic reaction from mosquitoe bites that the bites turn in to big swollen welts?
Yes and no: Most people get a local allergic reaction to mosquitoes. This will lead to a large area of redness. Some people are more allergic than others, so those people get even worse rashes and reactions. There are some lucky people who are not allergic at all. So while it is an allergic reaction, there is usually nothing dangerous about it. Oral antihistamines might help. ...Read more

Possible spider bite? Blister on arm, area is red around the blister, arm is sore, mild discomfort. Maybe hobo spider? Go 2 ER now to reduce damage?
Probably not: There are hobo spiders in WA. If they ever bite at all, the result is much less severe than brown recluse. Expert opinion differs as to the existence of any bites by hobos. They are very reluctant to attack. Unless you saw and felt a bite, then took the creature for expert identification, assume it is something else. Best bet is a dermatologist. ...Read more
