Urine unreliable: The urine pregnancy test, while accurate depends on the amount of hormone in the urine. This is very variable early on and therefore a neg test does not prove no pregnancy. The blood test is essentially always reliable. If concerned consider having family doc order the serum HCG -the blood test for pregnancy. Bleeding : Bleeding in early pregnancy is very common. In most of these cases the pregnancy will progress normally. However, at minimum your doctor should be notified. He/she will ask a few questions and decide on the next course of action, which is usually waiting or you could be monitored with blood tests every 3 days to see if the pregnancy is progressing. My advice would be to avoid sex or anything in the vagina at least until you make it out of the first trimester. Obviously this is your decision. Feel free to discuss it with your doctor.
