Bleeding After Polyp Removal From Uterus
I had a uterine polyp removal surgery on 26evening. Post surgery the bleeding was very low, pinkish n now it's red and lil more increased. Is it normal?
Uterine polyps: Polyps can be removed with or without cautery to seal the small blood vessels within the stalk. Bleeding can be slight or sometimes more like a period, but should stop within three to four days. If not, see your provider who did the surgery. The amount of bleeding is generally not significant. ...Read more
Bleeding from uterine biopsy and polyp removal ten days after procedure. Is this normal? Not sure if starting a normal period now or still bleeding?
Hard to tell: It's possible either way. It might be normal to have some bleeding/spotting after removal of polyp and biopsy of uterus. Likewise, it could be your period. If it's time for your period, then that's what it likely is. Wait another month and see if next month's cycle is normal. Hopefully doctor called you by now to tell you everything's normal! ...Read more

First, is it unusual for you what you described?
There may be a chance the surgery played a role as there were some medications that may have affected your body. I would start out with Ibuprofen or Naproxen unless contraindicated as anti-inflammatories have been shown to reduce up to 75% of the volume of vaginal bleeding. Before you recur to those, please call your ENT to get the green light. ...Read more
Polyp removal not done at gp's as planned, referred to hospital incase of bleeding. Worried thought it was simple to remove. Appt in 8 weeks. No symptoms - been there 2 years since pap, which was clear?
Size: The larger something is, the more likely it is to bleed. It sounds like upon further exam, you gp felt it would be safer to do it in an or so that there is additional support if needed if you bled more than expected. This sounds like an additional safety measure, is all. ...Read more

Hysterectomy 24 yrs ago. Uterus & cervix removed. Vaginal bleeding. Family Dr. Says it's a polyp. Have a referral to see Gyn. What happens now? I'm 66
Polyp: If there is a polyp there, it is likely that the doctor will remove or at least biopsy it. After a hysterectomy or menopause the most common reason for bleeding is the thinning of the vaginal tissue due to low estrogen levels. This is called atrophic vaginitis. Occasionally, after a hysterectomy there will be granulation tissue or "proud flesh" at the cuff which can resemble a polyp and bleed. ...Read more

What are polyps in uterus. 2polyps of size 3x2cms found in moms uterus and sent to histo. Why do they occur? Do they reoccur after removal?
Common: Polyps are growths arising from the endometrium of the uterus. I describe them as looking like a uvula, (the thing that hangs down in the back of your throat) they are usually benign and can cause abnormal bleeding problems. Fertility specialists, have a 1 cent polyp in uterus. Do u recommend trying to get pregnant first or go straight to removal and try after?
Possibly: Even a 1 CM polyp in the uterus can be irritating to the lining and inhibit implantation or cause a miscarriage. If it is low in the uterus or in the cervix it causes less problems. Most people don''t know they have polyps unless they are having symptoms - irregular bleeding or had an ultrasound or hsg x-ray for fertility issues. If symptomatic it should come out first. ...Read more

Depends: If you have a nasal polyp on one side - yes it should be removed to make sure it is nothing more serious. Polyps almost always affect both nasal/sinus cavities. If it is seen on only one side - it should be biopsied (or removed). Is cervical polyp removal done under general or local Anesthesia in obgyn office or with no Anesthesia?
It depends on the size and placement of the polyp. A physician may elect to remove a polyp without anesthesia in the office if it is readily visualized with the naked eye and with proper instruments. If a polyp is large and the physician feels that an office proceedure would be uncomfortable to her patient, then he/she may decide that the O. R. would be the best place with anesthesia. ...Read more
