Why am I bleeding after a partial hysterectomy?

Why am I bleeding after a partial hysterectomy?

After hysterectomy: If you had a supracervical hysterectomy it is not unusual to have mild light periods, depending on how much endometrial tissue is left behind. If your uterus and cervix were both removed, than any bleeding needs to be immediately investigated. Please contact your surgeon's office to set up an appointment. ...Read more

Why is my mother in law still bleeding after a partial hysterectomy?

Hysterectomy bleedin: If she just had a hysterectomy, it may just be healing. If she had a hysterectomy a couple of months ago, she may have granulation tissue that may need to be cauterized. If they left her cervix, she can bleed from it. If it has been longer, she need to be evaluated. It may just be due to atrophy (thinning) of the vaginal tissue, but you need to make sure there is nothing significant going on. ...Read more

Bleeding 20 years after partial hysterectomy?

Bleeding 20 years after partial hysterectomy?

Not normal: If you had a partial hysterectomy (uterus only removed and ovaries/tubes left in) 20 years ago and are now having vaginal bleeding, you need to have it investigated as this would not be expected to occur at this stage of life. See your usual doctor to discuss. If he/she is unable to assess, then request referral to an ob/gyn physician. ...Read more

Why would I bleeding 20 years after partial hysterectomy?

Why would I bleeding 20 years after partial hysterectomy?

Vaginal atrophy: It needs to be clarified whether or not you still have a cervix. If you still have a cervix, then you might be bleeding from the cervix. If you do not have a cervix, then vaginal bleeding is probably related to "thinning" and fragility of the vagina that comes with menopause. In either case, you must schedule a visit with an ob/gyn. ...Read more

Why am I spot bleeding after having a partial, partial hysterectomy. I still have my ovaries and cervix. I had my surgery done 01/04/11?

Why am I spot bleeding after having a partial, partial hysterectomy. I still have my ovaries and cervix. I had my surgery done 01/04/11?

Residual tissue: With a partial hysterectomy, there can be some glands left behind in the cervix that still function like a uterus. These are responsive to hormones and can bleed. This could also be a sign of cervical dysplasia (abnormal cells) or infection. I recommend that you see a gynecologist soon to have this evaluated as it can be serious and it is treatable. ...Read more

I was on depo from 94-2011 and had an oblation then had partial hysterectomy in 2014 and now last week I started bleeding. I've not had cycle since I?

Bleeding after Hyst.: Should be checked out by your GYN surgeon. The GYN surgeon will do an exam and identify if the cause of bleeding is from the upper vagina, or from somewhere else. Every hysterectomy, unless the cervix is left behind, has a place in the top of the vagina that gets sutured closed and should heal in around 6-8 weeks but sometimes granulation tissue forms which can bleed or spot later. ...Read more

I had a vaginal mesh implanted and bleed from time to time. Also I have no monthly had a partial hysterectomy. Where's the bleeding coming from?

See details: If you had a partial hysterectomy, then you will not get a period. If the cervix was left behind, sometimes it can be a source of blood. More concerning is that you have vaginal bleeding and this is in the setting of vaginal mesh. You need an exam to make sure that there are no vaginal erosions or exposure of the mesh material. ...Read more

Had partial hysterectomy 6wks ago. I had light bleeding for about 3wks and it stopped. Well now I have more bleeding with a fowl smell. Is this normal?

No: It is common after surgery to have bleeding from the healing process. But now this seems abnormal and I would be concerned about an infection. You do not want that to get worse if it is going on. Would recommend seeing your surgeon to be examined and evaluated ...Read more

Hello. I had an partial hysterectomy 2 years ago. Now I am having vaginal bleeding. Why an what causes this to happen?

Still bleeding: Hi! It's unusual and generally abnormal to bleed after having a hysterectomy. However you stated that you had a partial hysterectomy which may mean that your cervix was left behind and that can cause bleeding. Another reason for the bleeding be that something could be irritating the vaginal incision from your hysterectomy. Either way, I strongly recommend you see a gynecologist. Good Luck! ...Read more

What are a few reasons why a woman who has had a partial hysterectomy seven years ago would have bright red bleeding after intercourse?

Depends: The cervix could be the problem. A partial hysterectomy would leave the cervix. There would be risk for cervical dysplasia or cancer. A vaginal infection or vaginal cancer could cause bleeding. Granulation tissue on the hysterectomy scar can often result in bleeding. See your doctor. ...Read more

I've had a partial hysterectomy over 8yrs ago, once n a while I will have light bleeding for several hrs after sex, with pelvic pressure. Should I be c?

"Partial" surgery: A partial hysterectomy implies, but does not make clear, that your uterus only was removed and not the ovaries. If that is the case, there can be bleeding from granulation tissue or "stretching" of the vaginal cuff post intercourse. Usually the latter is due to low estrogen states in the vagina. See a GYN MD to clarify your situation by examination of the area. ...Read more

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor. It is unlikely to be cancer, but it still warrants evaluation. ...Read more

Hi, I had partial hysterectomy due to placenta accreta & previa also adhesions removed operation done abdominal vertical & I'm am bleeding irregularly?

Talk to MD: Frequently, granulation tissue at the vaginal cuff will cause annoying vaginal bleeding. Easily corrected in the office. I know some people refer to a 'partial' hysterectomy incorrectly but if by partial you mean a supracervical or subtotal hyst, then your cervix is still present and that explains the bleeding easier. ...Read more

I had a partial hysterectomy last year I started to bleed this morning with a horrible back pain is this normal. Just uterus removed?

No: If you had your whole uterus removed this is definitely not normal. You need to be seen immediately either at your doctor's office, an urgent care clinic, or an emergency room. The back ache could be because of a kidney stone or a severe bladder infection. If the bleeding is rectal it could be diverticulitis, colitis, or colon cancer. If it is vaginal that is also very worrisome-nothing left to bleed ...Read more
