Bleeding 10 Years After Hysterectomy
You should not: You should not have bleeding after a hysterectomy unless you had a supracervical hysterectomy where a portion of the lower part of the uterus was left behind. If you are having bleeding you need to be examined by your doctor. A common cause is some extra scar tissue called granulation tissue at the very back of the vagina. ...Read more
Define "partial": What do you mean by a "partial" hysterectomy? This term, partial, has been mis-used and can be confusing. If you mean that you had your uterus removed, but your cervix remains, that is more accurately termed a supra-cervical hysterectomy. The cervix that is left behind may still have tissue in the canal that can bleed with your cycles. The best way to find out is to have an exam to confirm. ...Read more
Not normal: If you had a partial hysterectomy (uterus only removed and ovaries/tubes left in) 20 years ago and are now having vaginal bleeding, you need to have it investigated as this would not be expected to occur at this stage of life. See your usual doctor to discuss. If he/she is unable to assess, then request referral to an ob/gyn physician. ...Read more
Vaginal atrophy: It needs to be clarified whether or not you still have a cervix. If you still have a cervix, then you might be bleeding from the cervix. If you do not have a cervix, then vaginal bleeding is probably related to "thinning" and fragility of the vagina that comes with menopause. In either case, you must schedule a visit with an ob/gyn. ...Read more

Gonorrhea: Unusual but conceivable. Women can be long term asymptomatic carriers of neisseria gonorrheae, and have acute infection reactivated by a variety of mechanisms. You may have gotten infected more recently (do not know your sexual history), or perhaps the diagnosis was incorrect (would need more info and records). Why not discuss with the diagnosing doctor? ...Read more

Hello. I had an partial hysterectomy 2 years ago. Now I am having vaginal bleeding. Why an what causes this to happen?
Still bleeding: Hi! It's unusual and generally abnormal to bleed after having a hysterectomy. However you stated that you had a partial hysterectomy which may mean that your cervix was left behind and that can cause bleeding. I had a partial hysterectomy about 4 years ago, this morning I am bleeding and there are large clots. Should I go to the ER or just see the GYN?
I had a hysterectomy two years ago and hadn't had sex. Two days ago I had intercourse and now it burns and I am bleeding everytime I pee. What could be?
May have UTI...:
For your conditions, the discomfort may result from intercourse-related irritation, but it's important to check out if you have infection. If blood in urine persists even after confirming no uti, you need to see urologist to make sure that your bladder is okay.
If still in doubt, see, talk, and work with experts timely.
Best wish. .. ...Read more
