Blackheads In Cheeks
Yes: Whiteheads and blackheads are one type of acne called comedones. They are caused by oil and dead skin cells which leave a plug below the skin. These are best treated with comedolytics (medications that open up the pores), such as retina, benzoyl peroxide, and salicylic acids. Other types of acne include inflammatory acne (red pimples) and cystic acne-- these respond best to oral medications. ...Read more
Blackheads all over my face especially my chin, nose, cheeks and forehead I use a blackhead face scrub in the shower but it doesn't help?
Don't scrub!: Your face isn't a pot - don't scrub it. As to what treatment is best for you, each individual responds differently to different treatments, so there is no one "most effective" treatment. A dermatologist can tailor a treatment based on your skin type and the variety of acne you have. ...Read more
NO: BPO is a topical antibiotic good for killing once causing bacteria. Your large pore is filled with oils and cellular debris, to treat it you have to clean it out . I would use a mild soap and follow up with a god exfoliator. Some term practices have them and they either have glycol acid or salicylic acid to exfoliate. These 2 measures will help a lot more than the bPO ...Read more
Acne: The benzoyl peroxide will help but you will likely need Clindamycin to use as well they have a prescription combination that works very well. If it is really a severe case you may need retin a (tretinoin). See your family doctor and they will refer you to a dermatologist if you need the extra help. Good luck. Make sure you clean the skin really well before you use the acne cream. Hang in there. ...Read more
Scientific Rx: Topical benzoyl peroxide as tolerated. I see that you already have scarring from your acne having been neglected when you were younger. I'm sorry this happened. At age 19, you're old enough to phone your physician who can add prescription-strength Rx to your benzoyl peroxide regimen. You will probably need to do this. Best wishes. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
