Black Wax Inside Ear
I just used a q tip In my ear because my mom saw black and when she pulled it out there was blood and ear wax but when I put the other end blood was o?
Scratch: The likely source of the blood is abrasion to the ear canal wall caused by the q-tip, if not at this time, then previously. In general, we advise you never use a q-tip or any solid device in your ear as it is a blind procedure and you're likely to impact the wax (push it against the drum). Liquids are okay like warmed oil, hydrogen peroxide, or cerumenex. Doctors use an otoscope or mirror to see. ...Read more

I felt like wax was dislodged in my ear and shifting so I used a q tip and there was blood. Should I see a doctor?
Yes there are ways: To get wax out without traumatizing your ear with a Q-tip -- which is why you saw blood. You may also have an infection of the external canal. I hope you didn't unwittingly puncture your ear drum - symptoms for that would be lots of fluid loss, hearing loss and pain. Go see a family physician or healthcare provider. I was poking around in my ear and I think I have pushed wax further into my ear. I have half hearing in my left ear and have a ringing sound.
Impaction??: If your hearing was ok prior to "poking around" in your ear then two things are possible. 1. You pushed the wax deeper into your ear canal 2. You may have caused a perforation of your ear drum. In any event it is essential that you see your family physician asap and let him/her rectify the problem. ...Read more
I believe I have wax build up in my ear as it is starting to become painful and has lasted several days. Will Debrox work to alleviate the pain?
Wax dosnt cause pain: Cerumen (ear wax) impaction can cause decreased hearing, but should not cause pain. Scratching or irritating your ear canal or perforating your ear drum trying to remove ear wax by inserting something into your ear is a common cause of pain. Alternatively, you may have an outer ear infection with swelling/inflammation of your ear canal. Have clinician look in your ear asap. Take care! ...Read more

Peroxide for earwax: Peroxide progressively breaks down earwax with repeated use. I recommend that my patients use 5 drops in their affected ear 2-3 times a day for 7 days when their ear is filled with wax. It is not unusual for ear to feel clogged and for hearing to be muffled until the wax resolves. You can see your local otolaryngologist for a thorough ear cleaning. ...Read more

There is excessive wax formation in my ear, every alternate day I have to clean the liquid wax, is this normal or should I consult an ENT?
See ENT: When it comes to the ears and earwax the single most important thing is to leave your ears alone. See an ENT to make sure your skin is okay and doesn't require medication and then stop trying to clean them. ...Read more

Almost certainly wax: Color means little. When wax is old it gets very hard and when you try to clean you push it further in.. Try to find some Ceruminex and follow the label instructions to soften wax. Then put several drops of peroxide, keep that side up for 5 minutes, then drain out. Do this several times. Wax should start coming out. Don't dig in there with anything. If this doesn't work you may need clinic ...Read more

See A Doctor Now: You have not included important information such as the duration of symptoms, medication taken, doctor care already received, etc. With that said, smelly earwax and pain suggest infection. Examination is needed to determine whether this is an external ear (aka swimmer's ear) vs. Middle ear infection because each is treated differently.
