I had a bad reaction to being bitten by a lot of black flies while in japan. I ended up vomiting and fainting. Would this be due to so many bites or a?
Allergy: In most likelihood, you had allergy to the bites and it caused release of histamine causing vasodilatation or opening up of the blood vessels, decrease blood pressure, dizziness and fainting and vomiting. Normal: A dose or 2 of 20mg prednisone will help. A cortisone cream will help. Prescription strength will work better than OTC. Elevate legs to reduce swelling. Antihistamine such as cetirizine [Zyrtec]or loratadine [Claratin] might help. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is a sleeping pill: not to be used unless you are going to bed. Cool water will feel good.
