Black Dot Under Fingernail
Have it evaluated: Have it evaluated. It is often nothing but it may be a more serious condition such as a melanoma.
Is melanoma common at 26 male on leg? Also would melanoma come of with a fingernail? My reason is my friend scatched a black spot on leg.
No: Melanoma is not common in a 26 year old and it would not come off from a simple scratch. If you still have a dark mole/spot you are concerned about please see your primary care doctor. Best wishes.
Could melanoma be picked off with fingernail? My friend is 27 and he pick a 3mm black spot on leg. He has panic attacks. Was it a melanoma?
Unlikely.: If the lesion really did come off simply by picking at it, it was unlikely to be a melanoma; but no way to know for sure without sending it to a pathologist. If there is anything left on the skin, he would be prudent to see a dermatologist to find out exactly what it is.See 1 more doctor answer
I recently broke my finger nail off at work. It bleed a lot & was super painful, I noticed a black spot under the skin, will it go away?
Nail injury: That is probably dried blood, under the nail. It should go awaw as the nail grows back.See 1 more doctor answer
Floaters: Sounds as if you have had a posterior vitreous detachment. This is a situation where the vitreous (jelly) of the eye detaches (not a retinal detachment), it then "crumples" up leaving dots, spots, strands of blurry vitreous; i.e. The "floater". When it pills away, it causes flashes. You should have an exam to ensure the incident did not tear the retina, which could lead to a retinal detachment.
Uncertain: Sometimes a spider bite can have that appearance. Can consider dermatologic eval to determine diagnosis and to formulate treatment plan if concerned. Take care.

Any chance: You had mild trauma and developed a blood blister (which has turned black)? If concerned, can seek dermatologic eval to determine diagnosis and to formulate treatment plan.
Observation: Children often get their fingertips pinched or traumatized, creating a blood blister beneath the skin. As the blood is being broken down during the healing process, these areas turn dark brown or black. In the absence of other symptoms, observation is usually recommended. New or progressive symptom should prompt an evaluation.
Blood clot: The most common reason for such a presentation is from clenching/grinding and biting of the cheek at night. The dark spot is actually a small blood clot where you bit your cheek. Consider wearing a nightguard.
Dermoid Cyst/Sinus?: This may be the remnant of a dermoid cyst or sinus tract.
Traumatic tattoo: The carbon graphite in the pencil has left behind a traumatic tattoo. It can lighten or fade with time but may leave behind a permanent tattoo. It can be removed surgically or with a laser.
Not sure.: There are a # of possible causes. The best way to get an accurate diagnosis would be dermatological evaluation.
I think my hubby may been bit by brown recluse. It is scaly and black dot in middle. Pls what do u think?
Don't think it is.: Brown recluse spider bites are actually rather rare. Usually there is stinging sensation rather quickly and the area looks red and inflammed (not black dot). Within a few hours, there is usually severe pain, and area becomes more inflammed and thick. Within 24 hrs, it becomes a big blister. Clean area with cool water and soap, apply ice pack to area, keep at rest. If above changes occur, see doc.See 1 more doctor answer
