Visual DX : Hi, it’s hard to say without a picture but there is a great app that may be able to help you get a diagnosis without being seen in person by a dermatologist. Good luck! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
There's a yellowish color around the circle of my pupil on my iris. I'm Irish with blue eyes. Is that normal and on top of my cornea?
Probably normal, but: There are all sorts of variations in iris color and this may be one of those. Some people will have a white or yellowish ring around the perimeter of the cornea where it meets the white of the eye. This might appear to be an iris discoloration (the iris is in the eye), but really it is on the cornea, which is the clear dome over the iris. This might be related to increased cholesterol levels. ...Read more
Corneal limbus: If ring is dark/black it can be a narrow space (angle/limbus) between cornea & iris, which doesn't allow much light penetration so it appears dark. Not something to worry about. If, however, the ring is milky/gray, it may suggest elevated cholesterol (but also normal variant in older people). If ring is brownish, can be problem with copper metabolism, to be checked & treated by doc. ...Read more
Recently noticed a very small oval shaped black dot near my pupil on iris. Brown eyes. What could this be?
Nevus, cyst: If the lesion is truly on the iris, inside the eye, it could be a benign cyst, or nevus, or it could be a more serious growth. It is also possible that what you see is on the cornea, or clear surface of the eye. Whatever it may be, it's definitely worth taking a trip to your eye doctor to have him or her check it out. ...Read more
Pingueculum: The most common spot seen on the eye is a whitish to yellowish spot on the nasal or temporal side of the cornea - a normal structure termed a pingueculum. It is highlighted if the eye gets red. It is benign and not a problem.. If the eye is persistently red, or the vision is down, or the eye hurts, see your ophthalmologist for evaluation. ...Read more
Tiny grey spot at the end of blood vessel in eye and discolored patch with a tinge of yellowish brown on my sclera. Eyes were irritated with sunblock?
Pingueculum: It's probably a pingueculum, particularly if it is painless. These usually occur in the inner and/or outer white part of the eye. May be yellowish and occasionally can become inflamed. Other possibilities could include a cyst, scar, foreign body, calcium, limbal dermoid, tumor and others. If concerned see an eye md. ...Read more
Usually no problem: Some people have a gray patch on the white of the eye which is actually a natural thinning of the wall of the eye. There is usually no problem with the eye, unless there has been severe inflammation of the eye. When the sclera is thin, the underlying pigmented tissues show through, giving a gray or sometimes blue appearance. You could get it checked to rule conjunctival pigment, which is different. ...Read more
Small circle/ring, dark shadow/"cig light coil" shaped; appears bottom or left of eye when blink fast/after light glare. Appears same spot/disappears?
Flashes ; floaters: The clear gel that fills eyeball is normally attached to all parts of the inside of the eye. As we get older it can become more liquid (watery) and detaches from the back of the retina causing flashes ; floaters. This can indicate a retinal tear. As the retina detaches, change or loss in your side vision is the next symptom. You should see your eye doctor to check the retina. ...Read more

Difficult to say: Based on your description it is difficult to say exactly what it is. You probably need to be evaluated to determine if it's something that is benign and just needs to be monitored versus if it needs treatment. ...Read more
