I've been treating my canker sore with salt, alum and orajel. It has turned black. Is that normal? Why would that happen?

Consider cause: Prevention of recurrent canker sores is better than treatment of them! sometimes these aphthous ulcers are the result of acid reflux or a reaction to you toothpaste (consider trying one that lacks sodium lauryl sulfate).
