You're OK: Oral sex is safe sex for HIV, with no proved transmissions by fellatio from mouth to penis, only rare ones penis to oral. You didn't need testing on account of this event and for sure not the multiple expensive ones you had. But the results from that combination of tests are conclusive. For sure you didn't catch HIV during that exposure and no further testing is needed. Best wishes and stay safe! ...Read more
Urine is the product of the kidneys, which is produced to eliminate the waste products of metabolism, manage body fluid balance, &maintain acid-base balance. The blood is first filtered by the kidneys, and the composition of the resulting fluid is then altered depending on the body's needs. It is composed of mostly water, and breakdown products from blood cells impart ...Read more
I am wondering about HIV results. I have tested at 5 months post exposure with dna/pcr, antibody, western blot test (negative). Is this conclusive?
Nucleic acid Test : Hiv is a RNA virus. Nucleic acid testing (nat) is done to (1) detect virus for an early diagnosis after potential exposure; (2) donated blood to detect infection, (3) to measure the viral load in someone undergoing treatment for hiv. Nat may be negative up to two weeks or so after acquiring infection. It is the most accurate of the tests for hiv. ...Read more
Is hiv-1-pcr quantitative and HIV RNA PCR quantitative same tests?can DNA PCR test be quantitative?
How many types of HIV are there?I did HIV DNA PCR for HIV 1 only I'm afraid If I'm infected by other types.
HIV risks: There are two major strains of HIV in the world - HIV-1 and HIV-2. Almost all infections are HIV-1 unless you live in W. Africa where there is some HIV-2. If your test was negative then that is great. You should still be careful though because HIV infection requires life long medication to manage it. Probably best to get follow up with your doc. There are lots of ways to have safe sex-b careful ...Read more
Can hiv pcr plasma test at 8 weeks post possible exposure detect virus even if there coinfection with hepatitis?
Is it possible to still carry chlamadyia infection despite a negative result in PCR Dna test??(symptoms persist)
Very unlikely: The chlamydia DNA tests are very accurate; a negative result is good evidence the infection is gone. Chlamydia symptoms in women (e.g. vaginal discharge, painful urination, etc) are nonspecific, i.e. same symptoms caused by many different conditions. Return to your doctor or clinic to evaluate the cause and treatment of your continuing symptoms. Probably it isn't chlamydia. Good luck. ...Read more
HSV 1+2 Serum test resut- 1.77 & HSV Type 1+2 PCR DNA result Negative. Can't understand the difference between two results.
Need details: PCR will detect herpes virus if present on the skin. If no virus is shedding at the time, then it shows negative. But herpes is present in a dormant form in a nerve and is detected by noting serum antibodies. Antibodies are specific immunity which contain the virus but fail to reach inside a nerve. When the virus sometimes comes out onto the skin it can be detected by PCR. When the virus is only i ...Read more
Ok the HIV RNA PCR will detect both hiv1and2 but what about HIV DNA pcr?would this detect both types even if it was designed for hiv1 only?
HIV: This is an RNA virus. It is called a retrovirus because when it enters a cell to create infection it is converted to DNA and intercalated into the cell's nuclear structure. The tests do not measure HIV DNA. You seem anxious over the possibility that you have HIV infection and you might want to chat with a therapist and stop having unprotected sex. ...Read more

Please tell me if I order hiv1 DNA PCR test would this test detect all types and starins of hiv? I'm confused.its expensive to order it for all types
Not all types: Of course it does not pick up all types. But, you are not at risk of all types of HIV in Lebanon. I wish that for once you would tell us what your exposure was so that the experts here can really help you. It is growing more and more bizarre these questions about testing. The experts here would have you test every twelve weeks if you are getting ongoing exposure. Or do one HIV RNA Test if not. ...Read more
Sir i had HIV DNA PCR at 45 days and western blot at 85 days of exploser both are negitive am i HIV HIV negitive .or i need any other tests to confm?

I had unprotected oral sex 8 week ago I had 2 HIV DNA PCR test at 18 days and 46 days negative and 2 fourth generation test at 28 days and 42 days neg?
HIV: The overwhelming probability is that you did not get HIV infection. You do not say whether the oral sex was done to you (in which case you were not in any significant risk), or whether you did it to a woman (not a risk). If you did to another man and semen hit the back of your throat that is a good way to become infected so in the future make sure he has a condom on. You are going to be fine. ...Read more
Polymerase chain reaction is a method of finding a specific piece of dna and copying it over and over again until there is enough to study. The technique allows a scientist to detect very small amounts of dna in a swab sample then reproduce enough of it to study it. It is very sensisitive for detecting the presence of certain bacteria and is also used in doing other ...Read more
