Is hemophilia a kind of birth defect?

Genetic disease

Hemophilia
Hemophilia is a bleeding disorder that occurs when a person is missing a particular factor in the chain of events that leads to the formation of a blood clot. It is an inherited disease, like some birth defects, but usually the term "birth defect" refers to a physical, or anatomic, problem with a baby, rather than a genetic disease.

Describe the concept of a birth defect.?

Abnormal tissue Form

Baby
In simplistic terms a BD might be considered any abnormality found in a baby at birth. A better, more specific idea is a failure of a tissue or structure to form properly in fetal development.(cleft palate). A "disruption" can create a BD -loss of fingers to amnionic bands. Chromasome defects lead to several BD's like heart defects.

What percent of babies have a birth defect?

About 3%

Baby
About 3 out of every 100 babies are born with some type of birth defect. Some can be very minor, and some are more serious. Some disease (like diabetes in the mother), or use of some medications in pregnancy can increase the risk of a baby having a birth defect.

Explain the condition called a birth defect.?

Varies

Genetic
There are many defects that could be present at the time of birth(genetic, structural, developmental, etc) that would be included in the list of birth defects - that is far too numerous to list here. Essentially anything that is not normal at the time of birth could be a "birth defect".
