Biotin Side Effects Sleep
Glowing: I am unsure if you want your skin to glow, or are already glowing and want to stop. Either way, biotin is unlikely to make it happen. It certainly has not been rigorously tested to see its effectiveness. That being said, it is safe in normal doses. Side effects can include acne, allergies and an increased risk of miscarriage. ...Read more
Seems very unnatural: Not a natural thing to do. Biotin deficiency is rare, but can occur in persons with genetic mutations, on long-term antibiotics or anti-convulsants, or who eat a lot of raw egg whites. There is no good evidence that this easily available, over-the-counter supplement is the magic potion for anything. Biotin is safe to take, but 10000 mcg per day is over 60 times the usual dose, so is not advisable. ...Read more

Are there substances (to take oral)scientifically demonstrated (except biotin)to remove persisten dandruff without any side effects on health?
Another supplement..: Biotin deficiency is rare, but can occur in persons with genetic mutations, on long-term antibiotics or anti-convulsants, or who eat a lot of raw egg whites. There is no good evidence that this over-the-counter supplement is needed, because normal people eating a regular, balanced diet should get enough of it from their foods. ...Read more

How can I get my hair to grow and I heard about biotin but what is it and what are the side effects?
I would like to know the side effects of the vitamin Biotin. I read it is good for you but could be harmful. What is your opinion?
Very safe but...:
Biotin is considered very safe and non-toxic in even very high doses. However, there are reports of high doses (over 2500 mcg/day) causing acne in some, but I am unaware of studies proving this. There is also concern high doses might interact with some seizure meds.

Recommended by some: Biotin role in promoting hair growth is controversial. It is known that biotin deficiency can sometime lead to alopecia (hair loss)that is why some dermatologists and doctors practicing alternate medicine recommend high doses of biotin for hair loss. Recommended dose is 8to10 mgm a day. It is considered a safe supplement. Other food sources are egg yolk, liver, whole grain, brewers yeast, rice, milk;vegies. ...Read more

At 18, my hair has begun to fall out rapidly. I am considering biotin (b7) to help. Are there any risks or permanent side effects to b7 supplements?
See your doctor:
Hair loss may occur for many different reasons, the most significant of which is hypothyroidism. So you need an general evaluation.

Is taking biotin healthy? Does it cause side effects? What pills are natural& r recommended for hair growth that will only grow the hair on scalp..
No magic bullet: I will invest heavily in any food which has proven efficacy in promoting hair growth. Hair growth is dependent on many factors including hereditary, stress level, hormone status (thyroid), iron level etc. I have no problem with biotin but it will not likely add a strand of hair to your scalp. See a dermatologist if you are the only one in the family with scanty hair growth. ...Read more
I have read a lot about biotin being good for healthy hair/hair growth. Is it safe to take? Are there any side effects? What is the max dose per day?
Very safe, no, 16 mg:
Biotin has many benefits. While deficiency is rare, there may be benefits to taking relatively high doses. It's not known to be toxic and has no side effects. There is no "max dose" considered dangerous but the highest dose researched is 16 mg/day (which is safe).
Unless you are diabetic no need for so much.

Does biotin 5000mcg has any side effects? I have acne prone skill, I heard that it breaks people out..
It may!: Biotin is widely available as a supplement in a number of different preparations. The adequate intake for adults is 30 micrograms per day. I'm starting to take 5mg of biotin to help with my hair becoming thinner and thinner, I read 1 of the side effects of taking biotin is acne...But would this side effect occur with just taking a low dosage 5mg a day?
No one knows: The internet is full of accounts of folks who believe big doses of biotin help hair, cradle cap, diabetes and much else. 5 mg is 5000 micrograms, in the lowish-range. Seems safe. The online reports from users are anecdotal; anyone can have a single pimple or short acne flare at any time, and people taking huge doses don't predictably get acne. Suspect "faces in the clouds". What should I do if my hair are getting thin? I am in my 30s. I lose hair while I am sleeping on a pillow, does biotin or nioxin shampoo work?
Alopecia?: There is a condition called alopecia which causes the hair to fall out. This is different from male pattern baldness which is genetic and not a disorder. It can be in patches or the entire body. A dermatologist can tell you if you have alopecia (an autoimmune disorder) and treat it. Peace and good health. ...Read more
My hair is getting significantly darker. What is causing it? I am taking methylfolate and methyl-b12 (for mthfr), biotin, and melatonin (for sleep).
Hard to say: My first thought was that perhaps melatonin could cause this but a review of research suggests that it does not affect hair color. Folate (folic acid) ; B12 improve methylation but I an not aware of poor methylation affecting hair; but poor methylation can increase oxidative stress which might lighten hair. Then again, this could be a coincidence. ...Read more
Can I take biotin and a multi vitamin with antidepressants and remeron (mirtazapine) for sleeping alone with Adderall and klonopin?
Re-evaluate: There is no problem with taking biotin and a multi-vitamin. Be sure it has methyl folate (folic acid) 500 mcg and methyl cobalamine 500 mcg. Check 25-oh vit d and ferritin level and make sure these are in middle range or higher. Look at life style and go towards health with less medication if possible. ...Read more
