Different dose or me: Compliance with medication is affected when problems arise, especially ed. Try switching to a different statin, lower the dose & combine with another cholesterol medication. Consider a stress test b/c ED and coronary artery blockage are connected. Decrease your animal fat including dairy and eat more plants. Add coq10 200mg to help with statin side effects and fish oil to help with triglyceride. ...Read more

Stop the statin.: Statins are not the best treatment for elevated triglycerides. The cause of your chest pain needs further evaluation and is not likely due to the statin. Your doctor can check your muscle enzymes to see if there are signs of muscle inflammation. Further history about your symptoms and perhaps cardiac evaluation are needed. It is important to know if your symptoms resolve with discontinuation. ...Read more

No...but: Statins are designed to be taken daily. There are however instances where periodic dosing is used to reduced side effects in individuals who did not tolerate daily dosing. Different statins are metabolized differently. In my practice we use intermittent Crestor (rosuvastatin) dosing frequently. Please consult with your physician to tailor a regimen that works best for you. ...Read more
