I had an abortion this november due to spina bifida. When can I conceive again to have a healthy pregnancy? Pls help dr
Soon: There's no indication that waiting more than one cycle changes your chances for pregnancy or increases your risk in any way. I typically recommend one cycle just to re-establish your cycle and uterine lining, but basically you can have unprotected sex whenever you want. I hope the best for you in the next pregnancy. ...Read more

Helo dr. I had abortion spina bifida. I had folate (folic acid) tablt during pregnancy. Wht could be reason for spina bifida. How I could have saved my baby.
Sorry for your loss: Spina bifida has several risk factors and this developmental disorder of the neural tube is a sign that something just didn't properly develop. Folate (folic acid) deficiency is a risk factor, anti-seizure medications, diabetes with poor control, obesity before pregnancy, and increased body temperature early in pregnancy has been linked as well. Talk with your OB about decreasing your risk in the future. ...Read more
Evaluate diet first: How was the acid pH diagnosed? If by pH strip testing of saliva or urine, these tests can reflect the ingestion of too much acid-producing foods in the diet. I would suggest keeping a 7-day food diary along with pH testing of urine (mid-stream) & have that information reviewed by a holistic (integrative) physician who is well-versed in nutrition as a first step, then assess if more wk-up is needed ...Read more

It's OK-It's Organic: Are you referring to 2-hydroxypropane-1, 2, 3-tricarboxylic acid [CH2 (COOH)COH (COOH)CH2 (COOH)]? -or perhaps 4-methylbenzenesulfonic acid [CH3C6H4SO3H]? I guess what I'm trying to say is that there are so many, some OK, some not OK and others VERY not OK-would be hard to say, but if you stick to citric acid in fruit and maybe 5% acetic acid in vinegar you'll be OK. Stay away from Formic: you'll go blind ...Read more

Yes: There are conditions known as acidosis & alkalosis, too much and too little acid, respectively. Acid-base physiology is a complex topic, but in general, either can usually be classified as either respiratory or metabolic (or sometimes both!). Two systems keep acid/base balance in check: respiratory (lungs) and renal (kidneys). Disorders of either system can disrupt the body's ability to regulate. ...Read more
They're mostly gone: These are synthetic fatty acids popularized long ago in shortenings. Retrospective studies link them inconsistently to coronary artery disease, but folks who've eaten a lot of crisco probably have other bad heart-health habits as well. Despite much "theory", animal work supporting the dangers is in my opinion very weak. Politicians have removed them from most foods. I don't miss them at all. ...Read more

Inflammation (red, hot, tender swelling) is the body increasing the blood flow to the injury to bring healing factors to the area and veins expand to carry bad stuff away.
