Biliary Sepsis Symptoms
Caution advised: Because body temperature can be above 101 F (38.3 C) or below 96.8 F (36 C) in sepsis it may appear as if the symptoms are coming and going. However, this can be a life threatening condition and emergency medical attention is needed until the condition is resolved completely.
Symptoms....: Sepsis usually results in fever, body aches, malaise, headache, etc. Which are very general symptoms. Pneumonia usually results in cough with discolored sputum, chest pain that increases with deep breath, shortness of breath, fever/chills, malaise, etc. Pneumonia can also cause sepsis if the bacteria in the lungs gets into the blood.
Variable: The time from the beginning of infection until the signs & symptoms of severe sepsis can vary widely--from only a few hours to several days.
I think I have had symptoms of Sepsis for weeks, but all my tests come back fine. And my vital signs are normal. What should I do?
Be grateful: You're not going to develop sepsis out of the blue without having some underlying cause that a second-year med student could pick up. If you've lost your spleen along the way, sepsis can pop up suddenly -- but you'll be obviously sick. And people who have sepsis perish in hours or days. Get a diligent physician to work up whatever symptoms you have. Best wishes.
Was sick with viral type illness for 2-3 weeks. Felt a bit better but not completely. Now getting same symptoms all over again. Sepsis?
Not likely/depends,,: This isn't likely to be sepsis, at least not yet, but it depends on when it started and when it came back. If it was a few weeks between that episode and your symptoms now, it is likely to be just another viral illness. If it was right before, it is likely to be a super-imposed bacterial infection that could lead to sepsis. It would be good to see your doctor to get checked out to be sure.
You give me fever: Just like the lyrics to the song fever, sepsis or infection that has spread to the blood steam, "gives you fever in the day and the night." medical abortion in a safe medical environment, does not often cause sepsis as it used to in the past in unsanitary conditions. Most medical abortion clinics also provide prophylactic (preventative) antibiotics at the time of the procedure or post-operatively.
Sepsis is serious.: Sepsis means a generalized infection. Usually gives fever, chills general malaise and it's is seriously dangerous. Common sources are intestinal, skin, urinary track, pneumonia but any infection may cause it. We order pancultures (blood, urine, sputum others) to find which germ is causing it. Requires serious tx in a hospital. Pt requires intravenous antibiotics. Sepsis causes shock and deathSee 2 more doctor answers
Can you tell me in sepsis, how much bacteria needs to be in a person's blood before he start showing signs and symptoms?
Depends: We all get bacteria in our blood periodically, like after brushing teeth. Sepsis results when bacterial grow unchecked, produce chemical mediators, and the body may over-react. Bacteria do not need to be in blood to produce a picture of sepsis, e.g., massive activation of T-cells can cause picture of sepsis by exposure to superantigens.
Can you have sepsis with no symptoms and normal regular blood work with no recent infections that you can recall?
No by definition: You would have certain symptomsGet a more detailed answer ›

Increase in vertigo events & tremor post TIA (q? Sepsis complication) with brainstem symptoms. Awaiting MRI & Transoesophageal Echo. Potential DDx?
Embolism: It sounds like your doctors suspect endocarditis which may throw septic emboli into the brain which causes ischemia or infarction of brain tissue and depending on where the tissue damage is, you would develop symptoms similar to what you describe. Are you on broad spectrum iv abc? are you on anti-coagulants? Why are you waiting for a brain MRI? that should be done urgently to eval brain insult.
Hello. I have a prostate infection and diverticulitis which has perforated my bladder (fistula)is it hard to tell symptoms from PI vs signs of sepsis?
Be evaluated now...: Sigmoid diverticulitis-related fistula to urinary bladder of course leads to persistent urinary tract infection because of its continual feeding bacteria from colon to bladder. Its clinical pictures could be acute or chronic depending on local anatomical variation and personal immunity. Regardless of whatsoever, seek evaluation now. More? Follow: http://formefirst. Had pneumonia&sepsis in January. No damage to heart/lungs/organs. Most symptoms have resolved. Still leg pain but can walk/run. Will leg pain resolve?
Find the cause: It is not related to the illness in January, or if it is, you may have vertebral osteomyelitis.
I am 14 weeks pregnant. I lost my previous pregnancy at 25weeks due to gbs sepsis. Now, a vaginal swab shows gbs+. My cervix is closed, ffn neg, but WBC 14, 200 (neutr 75%). I have no symptoms and am taking oral antibiotics. How likely is chorioamnionitis
Data not clear: A study done awhile ago showed that previous history of chorioamnionitis was not a risk factor for subsequent pregnancies, however I have other experts say that it is a risk factor. The bottom line, all you can do is follow doctor's instructions and stay as healthy as possible. Sleep, rest, a good immune system. Exercise, eating a good diet. Just try to take care of yourself as best as possible.See 3 more doctor answers
