Is lower ab pain and bloating 4 days post op from bilateral inguinal hernia repair an emergency? I am only peeing 1/4 cup at a time

Here are some...: As answered in another Q of yours, go to ER to be checked out. Hopefully, all of these are temporarily related with surgical pain, anesthesia, pain medication, etc. Such postop conditions is prone to develop in patients who might have gradually slowed down their urine flow for years in the past. So, go to ER to be checked out. How to get things done right? Follow instructions as described.

6 weeks post bilateral inguinal hernia surgery with scar revision. My right side is still in horrible pain. I had an injection but not working. Why?

6 weeks post bilateral inguinal hernia surgery with scar revision. My right side is still in horrible pain. I had an injection but not working. Why?

Nerve injury?: It would depend on the exact technical details of the operation, and the precise location of the pain, what makes it worse, etc. If the injection was to block the nerve, and if it relieved the pain but only temporarily, another type of injection may cure it, as might reoperation. This is a rare and challenging problem. Your best bet is to get answers from your surgeon, or a 2nd opinion.

What is the recovery for an open inguinal hernia repair?

Variable: Usually, it's uneventful, but it really depends on the individual. In general, I tell my patients they will have significant pain for the first 3 days and the pain will start improving after that. My patients take between 1 and 2 weeks off from work.

How do I deal with an inguinal hernia repair and recovery

General surgeon: See a general surgeon for a consult. Most inguinal hernia repairs are performed through a groin incision an use mesh. With enough training an experience, many surgeons perform the repairs laparoscopically. Th laparoscopic technique has less pain and recovery time than the open technique, but only when done by a surgeon with enough experience. Both don't require postop activity restrictions.

I'm a 58 year old. Had open inguinal hernia mesh repair surgery. Job requires lifting 75-150 lbs. How long is recovery before going back to this job?

If you want after 4w: Healing will be near complete after collagen tissue I is formed I that will take place 3 Wks, most of the people will go back to work in 4 to 6 wks. Obvious other factors, your motivation, general health, non healing etc will limit early return to work. When you go back obvious you will not going to lift 150 lbs on first day, has to be progressive.
