Is a CT scan finding of 'fat containing inguinal hernias, left greater than right' significant? My gp didn't mention it.

Is a CT scan finding of 'fat containing inguinal hernias, left greater than right' significant? My gp didn't mention it.

Fat: Findings of fat on a ct scan may be a normal finding of a fatty "cord lipoma" that needs no treatment and is observed. Ct is not good for hernias unless they are larger. Need to have a corroborating physical examination to see if the ct scan findings are causing an internal lump or swelling at the site where hernias occur. ...Read more

I have an indirect left inguinal hernia 11mm protrusion of extraperitoneal fat I am wearing a truss can I travel before my surgery in 2 weeks.

Have a nice trip: No problem at all to travel with this, provided you are not having significant pain at that location. This has probably been there for quite some time, and is currently at very low risk to get worse. You should primarily base your decision on your symptoms. Hope this helps! ...Read more

2 months after bilateral lap. Inguinal hernia repair, I feel my erection twisted to the right, and right test hangs higher than usual. Is it related?

Doubt it: If the angulation of the penis is severe, it could represent peyronie's disease. While it appeared after a lap inguinal hernia repair, the problem is in the shaft of the penis. I don't think the repair is causative. I would see a urologist to find out more. One testis hanging higher is normal. ...Read more

Go for it.: The purpose of a hernia repair is to let you live the lifestyle you want. There is always a possibility that your hernias could recur, or that you will get a new hernia, but in my opinion you should not let that limit you. ...Read more

I need to have inguinal hernia surgery, I am 5-7, 225 lb. Would it be advisable to have some belly fat removed during the surgey?

No: The best way to lose weight is to eat less and exercise more. Further, even for open inguinal hernia repair, the incision size is small compared to that of a panniculectomy. It depends of course how important the two issues are for you as an individual. ...Read more

I need to have inguinal hernia surgery, I am 5-7, 225 lb. Would it be advisable to have some belly fat removed during the surgery?

Not at all: It would be advisable to try to lose general weight in order to have a smaller chance of the hernia conf back. Doing a tummy tuck or liposuction is not a smart move and may increase risk of infection. Most hernias are repaired using mesh and if you had an infection due to fat removal, your mesh can also get infected and may need to be removed. ...Read more
