It is now known: That diabetics excrete enormous amounts of vitamin b1 in their urine. A derivative of thiamin (b1) is called benfotiamine and it has been reported that it prevents the complications of diabetes. You need large doses and you should ask your doc. I'm diebetic been a big drinker but I stop I have liver failure don't no the stage what are the symptoms if im starting kidney failure is there pain

I'm diebetic been a big drinker but I stop I have liver failure don't no the stage what are the symptoms if im starting kidney failure is there pain

Hard to say: Kidney failure only occurs in the very last stages of very severe liver failure, and most people will have ascites (fluid accumulating in the abdominal cavity) and edema (swollen legs and elsewhere) before that occurs. Improvement of the liver disease, which should happen if you completely stop drinking, should help considerably. There is no pain generally, lab tests are needed to follow it. Read more

Often None: I'm glad you have stopped drinking. Your liver may experience some recovery. Kidney failure often has no symptoms, but can be detected early by blood tests (bun, creatinine). Your doctor is most likely monitoring these along with your liver. Read more

Don't give up, man!!: The questions I hear you asking is, "can I perhaps survive this after all? " you're read, correctly, that when liver failure becomes so severe that it causes the lungs or kidneys to fail, recovery is unlikely. If you are writing this from your home, and fairly comfortable, your kidneys have not failed. A sober, compliant diabetic's liver can heal and work well for him for decades. Be strong, man. It is easy to find o: Kidney failure may or may not cause swelling. But it is easy to check your kidney function with a simple blood test. It is called blood creatininnie level...Normally it is, 1.5mg. If it is 2 mg or over, that means the kidneys are no longer functioning normally. Read more

It could be: Any exposure to things like alcoholic beverages, Tylenol (acetaminophen) and many supplements prior to testing can lead to elevated liver function tests. Your doctor is well on the right track by first repeating the testing. Try to minimize your exposure to the things above. Best of luck. Read more

Fatty Liver: The most common cause is fatty liver disease. This is particularly common in people who are diabetic, have elevated cholesterol or triglycerides, and are overweight. If the liver enzymes are normal, it is most likely benign fat. However, if the liver enzymes are elevated, it means that there is inflammation in the liver which can lead to injury. Talk with your doctor about next steps. Read more

What to do if I am a pretty heavy drinker who was recently diagnosed with liver damage.?

Be tough: You're going to have to stop. Most people like you need the support of others who want you to be successful, and to have something bigger than yourself ("a higher something", if you like) to make it possible and worthwhile. I'm a pathologist. Death from alcoholic liver disease is godawful. If you care for those who love, or once loved, you, spare them from this terrible experience. Read more

Why do I have fat around my liver? This is news to me that I have this. And I am not an alcoholic or regular drinker (i hear there's a link).

Fatty liver risks: Fatty liver is incredibly common, predominantly due to: high alcohol intake, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity. The more of these risks you have, the greater the chance of fatty liver. Addressing these risks is an important step to correcting fatty liver. Distinguish hepatosteatosis (fatty liver) from NASH/steatohepatitis (fatty liver + abnormal liver tests that risks cirrhosis & liver cancer). Read more
