Planning a pregnancy. How long should you wait to get pregnant after being on clarithromycin? I took 2 biaxin XL pills 500 mg once daily for 10 days.
Clarithromycin: The elimination half-life of Clarithromycin was about 3 to 4 hours with 250 mg administered every 12 hours but increased to 5 to 7 hours with 500 mg administered every 8 to 12 hours. Possibly: Biaxin (clarithromycin) is pregnancy category c, meaning it may not be safe. Biaxin increased the risk of heart defects and cleft palate, and decreased fetal growth, in pregnant animals. Although it has not been studied in pregnant humans, a healthcare provider may prescribe biaxin to pregnant women if the benefits outweigh the potential risks.
