Is 200mg of COq 10 safe and effective for lowering blood pressure? Current meds are Zoloft losartan betapace and nexium (esomeprazole). Any interactions?

Is 200mg of COq 10 safe and effective for lowering blood pressure? Current meds are Zoloft losartan betapace and nexium (esomeprazole). Any interactions?

There are two forms: of CoQ10. Neither has been regulated by the FDA. (One form appears to have more antioxidant properties). Several conditions have been associated with low CoQ10 levels including HTN, heart failure, certain cancers, gingivitis, gastric ulcers, etc. Currently there has not been a consensus arrived at as to the BP lowering effects (due to lack of controlled studies). May affect Zoloft (sertraline) level a bit. ...Read more

Are betapace (sotalol) and Zoloft safe together? Always had normal qt interval. Betapace (sotalol) is 40 mg twice daily. Zoloft 100mg. I heard some ssri increase qt

Speak to your doctor: Hello, The combination of Betapace (sotalol) and Zoloft can prolong Qt interval which increases the risk of cardiac arrhythmia. The risk of an individual or combination of drugs is not predictable and depends on factors such as heart disease, electrolytes and drug dosage. Consult your doctor about these medications. Do not stop or change your medications without speaking to your doctor. ...Read more

Intake 40mg betapace twice daily. All antidepressants cause side effects for me. I have severe anxiety. Dr. Wants to try lexapro (escitalopram). Interactions?

Not recommended: It can prolong the QT interval and lead to a potentially lethal arrhythmia (Torsades de Pointe ventricular tachycardia) - If there is no alternative, at least have your doctor monitor your EKG periodically. If your QTc exceeds 500 ms, you MUST stop one of the drugs. ...Read more

What type of antidepressant is remeron? Is it good for anxiety old and panic? Will it interact with betapace (sotalol) and cozaar? Side effects?

What type of antidepressant is remeron? Is it good for anxiety old and panic? Will it interact with betapace (sotalol) and cozaar? Side effects?

Tricyclic: Remeron (mirtazapine) is not intended to treat anxiety/panic - in fact that is a possible side effect. There are many (very common w/ psychoactive meds) side effects possible - so keep your provider informed of your reactions. Yes, it does interact w/ both and possibly lowers blood pressure. So, keep close watch and make accurate reports. Best wishes! ...Read more

I am on betapace (sotalol) for a - tachycardia. Not very good at keeping BP controlled or spike in BP from anxiety. Switch b-blocker? I also take cozaar

Work on anxiety: Betapace=sotalol is used for arrythmias insead of BP. I suggest Cognitive Behavioral Therapy along with with mindfulness training for the anxiety. There are beta blockers that are more effective for BP and can help with atrial tachycardia, but ultimately you should have this discussion with your cardiologist. Cozaar (losartan) max dose is 100mg daily, so this could be adjusted if you are on lower dose. ...Read more
