Super beta prostate has 600mg of plant sterols., and others. Other manufacturers of beta-sitosterol don't have as many in theirs. Is this important?

It could be: That a higher dose certainly sounds better... However to my knowledge there is no scientific proof that any sterols have any long term beneficial effect on prostate hypertrophy. The "drug" is advertised on the net ready to order. Go see a urologist have a psa done and listen to what the dr. Will tell you. Do not treat yourself! ...Read more

Taking beta sitosterol 1500 mg only (no meds I can tolerate) daily for PCOS. It reduces my T levels and gives me a period. Is this safe long term?

Lack of evidence: There is not much evidence to support the use of beta sitosterol for PCOS. The theoretical mechanism of action is that it would influence the enzyme 5-Alpha Reductase. Some studies have been done regarding Prostate disease but the outcomes were not promising ...Read more

Was on flomax (tamsulosin) for bph. What is better saw palmetto or beta-sitosterol, and how many mg per day. What other ingredients should it have?

Was on flomax (tamsulosin) for bph. What is better saw palmetto or beta-sitosterol, and how many mg per day. What other ingredients should it have?

320 mg/day (s.p.): There is conflicting and contradictory research about the benefits of saw palmetto for prostate symptoms. Some research has shown that saw palmetto might modestly improve symptoms such as going to the bathroom at night in some men. But higher quality and more reliable research seems to indicate that saw palmetto has little or no benefit for reducing these symptoms. Any benefit is modest at best. ...Read more

Some one told me beta-sitosterol and saw palmetto taken togather stops hairfall. What should be the quantity of intake. I am using minoxidil (10% soln).

Some one told me beta-sitosterol and saw palmetto taken togather stops hairfall. What should be the quantity of intake. I am using minoxidil (10% soln).

See a dermatologist: Saw palm contains small amt finasteride. A generic prescription is much more effective & not expensive if prescribed at 5 mg: you use a pill cutter to break it into 4 pieces. 2% Minoxidil works almost as well as 5% & costs less. 10% is not a regular commercial product. Result vary. Benefit comes only to those who use it religeously for years. ...Read more

In researching cinnamon, I read one article warning it boosts sex hormone and contains beta-sitosterol, and both can cause prostate cancer. True?

In researching cinnamon, I read one article warning it boosts sex hormone and contains beta-sitosterol, and both can cause prostate cancer. True?

Possibly, yes and NO: There is no clear research showing cinnamon raises testosterone in humans; it might do so indirectly by lowering blood sugar as high sugar reduces testosterone. But high testosterone does not cause prostate cancer! - see http://jnci. Oxfordjournals. Org/content/100/3/170 It does have Beta-sitosterol but research suggests that Beta-sitosterol reduces risk of prostate cancer: http://bit. Ly/1nDr8zb ...Read more

See below: There is conflicting and contradictory research about the benefits of supplements for prostate symptoms. Saw palmetto most studied. Despite much anecdotal evidence suggesting benefit (s) from the supplements you mention, high quality and more reliable research seem to indicate that these supplements have little or no benefit for reducing bph-related symptoms. Is a beta level of 1281 too high for 12dpo? I'm not sure if I'm 12 or 19dpo...

Approximation...: HCG levels are highly variable. The correlation between the HCG level and the number of days after ovulation is only an approximation. In real life there is just too much variation pregnancy to pregnancy. I wouldn't worry about the exact number as long as it is going up as fast as it should. A dating u/s at about 8 weeks is the best way to date the pregnancy (not the HCG level) Best wishes! ...Read more

Is 73 a good beta hcg?

Hormone: It is difficult to say if a level of HCG is good, based on one level. Hcg levels tend to increase exponentially in the first trimester of pregnancy. A HCG of 73 could be a normal very early pregnancy at 4+ weeks. Many times we will follow HCG levels over time. ...Read more

Why is IVF beta so late?

Delayed implantation: Occasionally there is delayed implantation and the HCG levels do not turn positive when expected. However, if delayed implantation did occur, it should only delay the raise of HCG levels by a few days. If there is any doubt that you could be pregnant after a negative test, continue your Progesterone and repeat the test in 2-3 days. Good luck. Hope this helps. ...Read more
