Is it ok to use rose hip oil and vitamin E oil during pregnancy? I heard rose hip oil is high vitamin a. Is this beta carotene based?

Yes: No more than 10, 000 iu of preformed vitamin a should be taken during pregnancy but preformed vitamin a is only found in animal foods (meat, eggs, dairy). There are no vegetarian sources of actual vitamin a- any "vitamin a" said to be in those foods are from carotenes and those are very safe in pregnancy. Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

What are vitamin a rich foods that needed to be avoided during pregnancy? I know beta carotene format is the best

What are vitamin a rich foods that needed to be avoided during pregnancy? I know beta carotene format is the best

NONE!: It is important to have adequate vitamin a in pregnancy- not enough can cause fetal growth retardation & blindness. The only hazard is more than 10, 000 iu of preformed a in the first weeks of pregnancy. It is virtually impossible to get that much from food- one would need to have 22 servings of milk, 40 eggs or 42 servings of salmon every day to get that much vitamin a! ...Read more

Balanced diet during pregnancy now that aversions are gone. Vitamin has vitamin a from beta carotene only and no choline. 14 weeks. Deficiency?

Should be ok...: A normal healthy pregnant woman eating a balanced diet and taking prenatal vitamins, in the United States or similar developed countries, does not need to worry about vitamin deficiencies. If she has a pre-existing disease that causes nutritional problems, then her ob-gyn and a nutritionist can investigate to see if changes in diet or supplements are needed. ...Read more

How much more beta carotene would I get in pulped carrots compared to a shop bought bottle of carrot juice?

How much more beta carotene would I get in pulped carrots compared to a shop bought bottle of carrot juice?

Not more: As best as I can tell, carrot juice may have more nutrients than the pulp, but both the juice and the pulp contain high levels of beta carotene and other nutrients. See http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/better-drink-carrot-juice-eat-whole-carrots-7430.html ...Read more

My 16mth old's face&hair r turning orange/golden.He's very fair w/ light bling hair.Diet not high it beta carotene &he's healthy. What else cd it be?

See your doctor: The most likely explanation is usually the beta carotene one- kids eat more yellow fruits and vegetables than other types. Jaundice can appear with yellowing of the skin, but will also affect the sclera of the eyes (the white part). See your doctor to figure out what is causing this in your child. ...Read more

Does beta carotene fight cancer?

Does beta carotene fight cancer?

Maybe: Please forgive this senior physician's frankness. The data on carotenes and lycopenes is so massive, so contradictory, is so tied up with the politics of "healthy diet", and makes so little sense scientifically that your question cannot be answered. In science, the stuff that's really true is generally established quickly. I love eating carrots, but would not spend money supplementing carotene. ...Read more

Are beta-carotene supplement dangerous ?

Possibly in smokers: Some studies have found high doses of beta carotene in smokers increases lung cancer risk, yet other studies have found it doesn't increase risk. Antioxidants work as a team & the studies showing increased risk gave beta carotene without other antioxidants to balance it. See http://tinyurl.com/p34vo4b It's wiser to take mixed carotenoids & get through diet. If you smoke use caution-better to quit! ...Read more
