Should be ok...: A normal healthy pregnant woman eating a balanced diet and taking prenatal vitamins, in the United States or similar developed countries, does not need to worry about vitamin deficiencies. If she has a pre-existing disease that causes nutritional problems, then her ob-gyn and a nutritionist can investigate to see if changes in diet or supplements are needed. ...Read more

Avoid preformed Vit: Preformed vit a is the most common known source of birth defects. That is the risk to the baby. Also avoid any additional beta carotene. Foods contain a variety of carotenes. Eat normal vegies and fruits..Note that metformin causes low vit b12. B12 can be checked by a blood test or it can be supplied as a supplement which is not a risk to the baby. See your doctor: The most likely explanation is usually the beta carotene one- kids eat more yellow fruits and vegetables than other types.
