Im overweight and have asthma. When I try to work out I get winded really fast. What are my best options?

Control the weight: Overweight asthmatics find that their asthma is much more difficult to control, and are frustrated that they can't exercise enough to lose weight. Please read "Why We Get Fat" by Gary Taubes. This explains that exercise is NOT the way to lose weight. Developing a low-carb diet is much more effective. You'll find that your asthma will be much easier to control once you get your BMI under 30 or 25. ...Read more

Overweight (Definition)

Nearly two-thirds of the United States population is overweight. There are many ways to determine if a person is overweight, but experts believe that a person's body mass index (BMI) is the best way to assess an adult's weight in relation to their height. * A BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 is considered normal. * Adults with a BMI between 25 and 29.9 are considered overweight. There are exceptions. For example, an athlete may have a higher BMI but not be overweight. * Adults with a BMI greater than 30 are considered obese. * Adults with a BMI greater than or equal to 40 are considered extremely obese. * Anyone more than 100 pounds overweight is considered morbidly obese. A person with a high BMI may have a normal amount of body fat is they have ...Read more

I am an athlete and I am overweight but I workout all the time and can't seem to loose weight. I dont look overweight, am I just all muscle?

BMI Misleading: If by overweight you are referring to increased BMI or body mass index then you can take comfort in the fact that these measurements don't correlate well with people who have a lot of muscle mass. If you eat right and regularly exercise its likely that you are at a healthy weight. Talk to your doctor if you have more detailed questions and about what a healthy weight is for your body type. ...Read more

I'm a 33 year old female who is quite overweight. During exercise (in the middle of workout) I break out in a cold sweat. Should I be worried?
