Best Way To Use Laxatives
What is the best way to deal with faecal impaction? In terms of chronic to severe type of constipation. Except laxatives.
I would love to clear out my colon just once, to see how I feel. I hear a lot just accumulates & sits. What's best way? Laxative? Softener? No enemas.
Things don't sit: Stuff doesn't sit around in the colon. If constipated, one needs to be sure there is no other disease causing it. If constipation is just due to slow movement of the food and poop through the gut, then the things to try are vegetables, water, prune juice, prunes, fiber+water, Miralax, (polyethylene glycol) Senokot or other senna, milk of magnesia, other laxatives... Laxatives: Frequent use of (strong) laxatives is not advisable. Increasing dietary fiber (fruits, veggies, supplements) with plenty of water should normalize bowel movements. There is no "Best": Being "regular" is very important. There is no single solution for everyone. Adequate hydration (plenty of fluids), fiber, and stimulation of the colon will usually solve the problem. Magnesium helps many people. You can't "od" on magnesium, because it will cause diarrhea. Not necessary: Intestinal tract normally cleans itself. Many people require laxatives or stool softners if bowels can not be regulated by diet alone. Various so called spa treatments, bowel "cleansing treatments" & high colonics etc. Vary from unnecessary to somewhat fraudulent. They only truly benefit those receiving payment.
