What happens if I use Xanax (alprazolam) to get high for fun sometimes but i don't abuse it am i gonna have side effects or its safe?

Using it to get high: Is the same as abusing it. It doesn't mean that you are addicted to it it does mean however that you have either obtained the drug illegally or you are using it against the directions given by your doctor, and quite possibly fraudulently. It is not advisable to use Alprazolam to get high off of . You simply don't know when you're going to pass out or black out. If you were to drive, you could get arrested for driving under the influence of a drug. You could take too much and potentially stop breathing. You could also find yourself in other potentially compromising situations. Just simply take my advice and don't do it. Your life is worth more than this. Get help if you need to. Best wishes. ...Read more

Alprazolam (Definition)

Alprazolam is a short acting benzodiazepine, it does not last long in the system . So when used regularly with multiple doses to treat anxiety, it is associated with inter-dose withdrawal, tolerance and a resulting increase level of baseline anxiety. How could I be addicted to fioricet but have been taking Xanax (alprazolam) for panic and have never abused it/felt the urge?

Both are addictive: If you are getting Xanax (alprazolam) on a regular basis you might not have known that you were addicted. Try stopping for a number of days, a few weeks, see if you have the urge for that as well. Barbiturates (fioricet) and benzodiazepines (xanax) are both "downers" and both have tachyphylaxis (habituation) qualities. ...Read more

Be careful: Regardless of how addiction-prone you may or may not be, a fast tapering of xanax (alprazolam) or other benzodiazepine drugs could increase your risk of seizures. Be sure you're tapering under the supervision of a health care provider. ...Read more

I take dexedrine and find myself only able to study when I am on Xanax (alprazolam) >4mg. I'm not abusing it. It helps me study for school. Is this uncommon?

I take dexedrine and find myself only able to study when I am on Xanax (alprazolam) >4mg. I'm not abusing it. It helps me study for school. Is this uncommon?

Who is prescribing?: I'm wondering whether you're working with a psychiatrist? With this combination of medicines you really need to be. You don't state the amount of Dexedrine you're taking, but that one in particular has a high potential for habituation and abuse. Also routinely taking >4mg of xanax (alprazolam) to "study" is a very high dose which in the long run is addictive. It's also "uncommon" to use in this way. ...Read more

Dr gave me Xanax (alprazolam) XR 3mg @night for gad/insomnia, and i honestly barely feel it. Never abused drugs, so i'm concerned why i don't feel such a high dose?

Dr gave me Xanax (alprazolam) XR 3mg @night for gad/insomnia, and i honestly barely feel it. Never abused drugs, so i'm concerned why i don't feel such a high dose?

This has generally: Been my experience with this medication. It is slow release and long acting and not at all suitable for insomnia. The few people I have on it are given it in the morning and are given a prn dose for daytime panic. There are better options for generalized anxiety, including cognitive therapy, exercise, acupuncture, meditation, tai chi, yoga, massage, naturopathic treatments, and other benzo's. ...Read more

My friend is abusing Oxycontin and Xanax (alprazolam) what should I do? tell his doctor?

Yes: Misuse of dangerous medications is indeed dangerous. People die. You should call the doctor, and do not be surprised when you are asked for your name and some more details. The doctor's staff might have no way to tell if you are an angry ex friend getting back at whoever.... If you are serious about this then you might really step up.. ...Read more

Previous hallucinogen drug abuse has given me anxiety. I have delusions of demons and I can picture out evil faces almost anywhere I look. Just looking for some tips, Xanax (alprazolam) helps me but pref no drugs.

Unfortunately: The best treatment may be a medication for persisting effects from hallucinogenic damage. Other relaxation strategies may be helpful as would guided meditation to learn to control the thought processes for longer periods of time and increase a sense of connection to reality. ...Read more

Would a mental and substance abuse doctor perscribe Xanax (alprazolam) for axiety and panic attacks?

Would a mental and substance abuse doctor perscribe Xanax (alprazolam) for axiety and panic attacks?

See below: It also depends on how often you use the meds. My rule of thumb is that two episodes of use per week is reasonable. However, there is still a danger of igniting heavier use even with this regimen. ...Read more

My friend has a very abusive problem with benzo pills(Xanax, kalotapins etc). He just got prescribed mirtazapine, is it the same?

No: See https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirtazapine for more information. You can compare the information about mechanism of action (MOA) with "benzo-info" on the Web about their MOA . For lookup purposes you'll need to know that the full name of "benzo pills" is "benzodiazepines." ...Read more
