Depends: Seems that people tend to prefer one or the other. Klonopin is long acting and you may not notice an immediate effect. Xanax is quick onset and does not last longer than a couple hours. Compliance is key...: Agree w/others. Just adding: therapy requires participation and meds only work if taken. So, any effective treatment plan is one you're comfortable enough with to follow. For anxiety severe enough to impede therapy (eg too avoidant/worried to go to sessions, etc.), meds (eg ssri) may help you engage in therapy.
