Best Time Of Day To Take Claritin
Pair it up: The best time to give a once daily med is when you pair it with another activity you already do daily. The effectiveness is not altered by when during the day it is given, you just need to remember to give it.
I am currently taking one tablet a day of generic form of Claritin for my seasonal allergies. Sometimes they work great other times, like today, they don't work at all. My question is: Should I take more than one dose within 24 hours since they do seem to
Don't exceed dosage: Better not to exceed recommended OTC dosage unless seen by an MD, which you might want to do, as you might need another prescription medication to control your symptoms, goodluck
Who knows: Work for what? Claritin supposedly starts working within 90 minutes. But Claritin is also the weakest binding antihistamine sold over the counter. Personally, I feel Claritin is a waste of money. Use a stronger antihistamine like fexofenadine or Cetirizine which cause minimal to no sedation. Use Benadryl (diphenhydramine) only at nighttime because it can make you drowsy.See 1 more doctor answer
Yes: Yes, no problem. Loratadine is safe to take before 24 hours is up.
Yes: The two medications do not conflict with each other and may be used at the same time.
I took Claritin (loratadine) at 11:15 last night can I take it tonight @ 5 pm or is that to close in time!? I got off scedual
Yes you can: A few hours is not a huge difference.
No: Do not take 2 different long acting antihistamines the same day.
Antihistamines: They are both antihistamines, so I wouldn't take them together. They both act similarly, so their effect would be too much together.
Stimulant medication: Both dayquil and Claritin (loratadine) d contain stimulants, so it would be duplication to take them together. The phenylephrine in dayquil is weaker than the Pseudoephedrine in Claritin (loratadine) d. Dayquil is for colds, and you should not take antihistamines like Claritin (loratadine) when you have a cold anyway. Antihistamines slow the clearance of secretions and prolong viral respiratory infections.
No: It is best not to since both contain decongestants.
Why should you?: Loratadine (Alavert, Claritin) is a mainly non-sedating antihistamine. Diphenhydramine is very sedating and affects the brain if if you don't feel sedated. In severe itching or welts, taking more that the recommended dose of antihistamines is acceptable. I would suggest you double-up on loratadine rather than adding the other and even then only if absolutely necessary.
Can I take one Claritin (loratadine) (not d) and one pseudophed PE at the same time? (The d makes me jittery).
