The menstrual cycle begins with the shedding of the uterine lining, resulting in bleeding from the vagina. If the egg is not fertilized, the egg will leave your body and ...Read more
I had hyteroscopy &laparoscopy surgery 13days ago. And my menstrual cycle this month not coming yet for what reason why my normal period not coming?
Hormonal changes: It is not uncommon for periods to be irregular after a procedure, especially those involving the uterus. Hormonal imbalances can occur from the stress of a procedure, and local irritation from instrumenting the uterus can also affect your period. Given that you had this 13 days ago, it is extremely unlikely to be due to pregnancy. You can call your gynecologist for more advice. ...Read more

My best friend has eating disorders because she eats very little and very rare. i was so worried about her when her menstrual cycle stopped for a year?
Lethal anorexia: You are right to be worried about your friend! It sounds as if she is quite underweight. Lack of menses for a year is a sign of this. She needs intensive therapy for this as it is both a mental and physical illness. She should know that mortality (death) is also high for the disease. ( one in 5 will die from it) encourage her to ask questions on Healthtap. Where is her family on the issue? ...Read more
First, sorry for my weak english. I have a question for my menstrual cycle. I know that the best menstrual cycle is every 28 days, but my mrnstrual cycle is every 33 or 36 or sometimes till 40 days. I have to mention that I am 23 years old. So I think it
Pls finish question: Hi! There is no "best" cycle. 28-day cycle is the average with normal being from 21 to 35 days. If your cycles are 33-36 days but pretty regular they are probably ovulatory but if they are more irregular then ovulation may not be occurring which is not a health problem unless you are trying to get pregnant. So it depends on what exactly bothers you about your periods. (your english is fine!) ...Read more
Can women have sex on their menstrual cycle? Why? Why not? What can happen to their lady parts and their cycle?
Sure: Sex is fine to have when menstruating, but most woman feel that it is messy and blood and menstrual contents can be flowing out of the vagina during the sex, making it a messy affair, especially on the first few days that may have a heavier flow. It is purely a personal preference, but nothing would be damaged as far as your "lady parts" go. ...Read more
Calender : Keep a menstrual calender marking the first through last day of each cycle. Ovulation usually occurs 2 wks before the next scheduled bleed. Also, try otc home ovulation tests to see if/when you ovulate. Pregnancy is most likely if you have sex within the 5 days before ovulation and day of ovulation. Menstrual timing for sex only works if your cycles are regular/predictable. Cycles vary at times. ...Read more
I have long suffered with a crippling menstrual cycle. I'm only 23, but i've had ovarian cysts. Is a partial or full hysterectomy best for me?
Start medically: Because of your age most people would start with medical treatments such as birth control pills or Lupron (leuprolide) or iud. Or do laparoscopy. It is also important to know what's the cause of the pain to know if a hysterectomy would help. Also knowing the cause would determine if the ovaries need to be removed - a full hysterectomy. ...Read more
I'm having a 17-hydroxyprogesterone (17-OHP) lab to test for non-classical form of CAH. When is the best time during my menstrual cycle to have this?
A 17-OHP test can be: done any time in the menstrual cycle. You may need to fast for 8 hrs. before the test. Birth control pills, steroids & other meds alter results; tell your MD all prescription, OTC, herbal & illicit drugs you take. If your 17-OHP level is equivocal, your doctor may order an ACTH test & molecular genetic studies for CYP21 gene mutations on Chr. 6p21.33 for definitive diagnosis. ...Read more

"2 wk menstr cycle": There is no meaning in that statement, since a true "menstrual cycle" has to include the time from ovulation to the onset of a "period", and that is 14 days (two wks). There are about 12-14 days in a cycle prior to ovulation also, so most "cycles" are from 24-34 days apart. Bleeding can occur every two weeks, but that is due to other conditions, and not a "menstrual cycle". ...Read more
No: You may read that you can take black cohosh, but it is not proven effective and imo, any substance that you take to effect a change in your body is a drug.
