Best Natural Sleep Aid
There is no best: There's no "best" natural sleep aid. What works for one person may not work for another. Melatonin and valerian root are two commons natural sleep aids. Usually though following proper sleep hygiene and making lifestyle changes works just as well, are long term successful strategies, and are cheaper. ...Read more
Can I take Somnapure natural sleep aid and Puritea natural energy and antioxidants from Peak Life with current medications?
I'd be careful ...: As you know, manufacture of herbal supplements is not regulated so their purity, safety and effectiveness can not be guaranteed. You are on some medicines, including Lamictal and Toviaz, (fesoterodine) which are unique and actually could interact with quite a few things. Somnopure contains valerian extract & Puritea contains ginseng. I hate to discourage something that sounds so promising, but I would avoid. ...Read more
There isn't one best: Sleep medication. Different sleep medications suit different patients and different conditions more optimally. Melatonin is often used because it is often effective, inexpensive, available over the counter and does not cause drowsiness the next day. Make sure that you are using excellent sleep hygiene. Retire ; rise same time each day. Keep bedroom dark ; cool ; use only for sex ; sleep. Turn off. ...Read more
Any : Any patient who has insomnia must pay attention to their sleep hygiene. You must avoid alcohol and sedatives after 6 pm, leave bed for sex and sleep only and no tv in bed. If you can't fall asleep in bed don't stay in bed just find something else to do and come back to bed when u are a little sleepy. Since melatonin is a natural supplement thus should be the first step. Sleep aids have high risk of dependance and should be tried on as needed basis only. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

A recent study showed as high as 92% of the meds that you were supposed to be getting were not actually what you got, and there were even weird fillers like shavings of metal in some of the pills. I would be very hesitant to ever but my meds on-line- there is no oversight to make sure you are getting what you ask for. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Best natural sleeping remedys for insomnia, sleeping disturbance? Instead of having to take sleeping pills / painkillers to sleep?
Sleep recommendation: It really depends on the cause of the insomnia. If "pure" initial insomnia that comes and goes randomly lasting for only a few days, over the counter remedies can help. Diphenhydramine, melatonin, or valerian root can work - but must be from reputable producers. Sonata, (zaleplon) lunesta, or Ambien are prescription aids. Many use trazadone, gabapentin, mirtazipine, or tricyclic antidepressants as well. ...Read more

Yes: As a pharmacist, i don't consider it a vitamin (vitamins and minerals to me are things the body has to have to function properly, like vitamin a, c, d, etc. And minerals like iron and magnesium). I would consider it a natural sleep aid, however, since the body does contain and use melatonin in sleep regulation. ...Read more
