Cetaphil: The product line includes gentle cleansers and moisturizers, and is widely available. More importantly look into the cause of the perioral dermatitis. Avoid whitening toothpastes and dental products. Steroids- including topical, nasal and oral inhalors- can also cause this condition. See link: http://www. Aocd. Depends: Perioral dermatitis can be allergic, infectious, fungal, or just irritative. The treatment, therefore, depends on the cause. Cracked, dry lips (especially at the angles) can often be helped with vaseline alone. Allergic or irritative can usually be treated with a short course of steroid cream. If red, blistered, draining, or crusting, you should see a doctor for recommendations. Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Dryness on penis, now with redness + pimple like marks and few cuts noticed. Doc said dermatitis so apply cortisoid creams & moisturizor. Not curing.?
Other thoughts: Just because the steroid isn't working doesn't mean it's not dermatitis. But i'd also consider fungal infection (which can worsen with steroids), herpes, and bacterial infection as part of our "differential". Certain medications can also cause rashes on the penis and other mucus membranes. So let your doc know if you've been on any oral antibiotics recently. I hope this helps. Is OTC hydrocortisone 0.5 safe to use on face for contact dermatitis? Or is just moisturizing with Cetaphil enough for it to get better?
My doctor says there is no "cure" for allergy contact dermatitis. I get facial rashes from pollen, and moisturizers don't work. No steroids, please.
Untrue: The cure is avoidance of the contact allergens. Have you undergone patch skin test to try to find out the cause (I suspect one of the facial cosmetics may be causing it)? On the other hand, if you have atopic eczema, then there is no cure although the condition can be controlled. However the location of your rash is not consistent with atopic eczema. See allergist or dermatologist. Read more

I got welts on one side of 4 fingers from contact dermatitis (?). I started washing my hands more often. Is this the cause? Or contact with bacteria? Do moisturizers or betamethasone work? If so, why?
Makes it worse: Likely have contact dermatitis. It may come from hands coming in contact with irritants. It could be a chemical or soap or detergent. Frequently washing your hands will add dryness to the inflammation. Wearing gloves when coming in contact with irritant, moisturizing lotion and topical steroids will help. Hard to know: Various mousturizers have differing benefits. In general, we recommend fragrance-free moisturizers with minimal additives (largely because we treat a lot of cases of contact dermatitis caused by some additives). Selecting a moisturizer that is not alcohol based is helpful as alcohol has a drying-out effect on skin. Petroleum based products work best, but may be greasy-feeling. Read more
Quality sunscreen: Is the absolute best antiaging protection, look for one with an SPF of at least 30 and better 40 or higher, as well as a hat and polarized sunglasses. Cover your hands, too, which will give away your age much sooner than your face if you take care of one and not the other. A moisturizing product with retinoic acid, ascorbic acid, niacinamide, or argirilene will help diminish wrinkles. Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
